116613LB or 116618LB for Daily?

Hey all. I sold my 116613LN a few years back to get a blue face when the sun burst dials came back in style. I saved up for a couple years to splurge and go for the 116618LB, but a few of my friends (and more importantly my current girl) are trying to talk me into getting the 116613LB based on appearance and are starting to sway me. Which do you guys think looks better aesthetically? This will be my daily watch for the foreseeable next few years.

Side note: I remember the steel of my prior TT ranging from bright white to dark grey depending on the lighting and am curious about how the satin finish gold looks with different light, especially against the mirrored gold.

When a blue dial is involved, I usually vote for it.

I'd get the full YG Blue subc, it's the top dog, and I did, and be sure your girl doesn't want you to get the TT just so you spend the difference on her.

I daily and do international travel with my 116618LN. Gold sub is a great daily, I agree with AK797 that is the top dog of subs.

I’d get the all gold version...IF....I had a SS to go along with. If a one and only daily wearer...I’d go TT, between your two choices. Also, if you’re buying the TT, and not spending the extra cash you’d have left on your significant other, or other needs....you’d have enough left over for another SS reference....ExpII, GMT, etc....my .02

Does anyone feel like the TT has better satin-mirror contrast? The main push for me to move back to the TT was a few pictures I was shown where the gold just really loses its contrast in certain lighting. My old TT bracelet looked great all the time.

Also, will the gold bracelet wear excessively as a daily or is it pretty functional? I've always had either steel (edge) bracelets or gator bands so don't have any first hand experience.

The TT is polished gold so likely that explains it. Full gold is satin on the sides so I think people complain about the satin finish

An interesting post, I have been contemplating going from a 116613lb to the full gold. I have polled my wife and several friends and family and all but one, feel aesthetically the two tone looks better. While some of them recognize that the full gold is the "top dog" the consensus seems to be the 3 metals have a richer look and in fact the 13LB actually has more bling than the full gold!

I am still thinking about it. PS I have a YG DD so this is not an issue of affordability or not loving full PM.

Interesting. I have the two tone, but would love to upgrade to the full gold one day! Go full on gold first time, as with your first plan!

You won't be disappointed with either. TT might be a better everyday choice in conditions where wearing a YG would come across as ostentatious.

What other watch do you wear? Would this be in a rotation, or would it be your daily? If in rotation, then go for the 18LB; if it will be your daily wearer, then the 13LB.

Both are rocking’ watches, but I have found the 13LB is the better “all occasions” watch. It is more versatile, and the SS offers a stronger shell!

TT Bluesy is my daily driver ..

It is a very accomodating watch .. for example ..

work attire for me is blue jeans and t-shirt .. bluesy looks just fine

on sunday i had my jeans and a button up shirt (pink) and manned the grill at the mothers day bbq .. bluesy looked right at home (ok, i did take it off why i was putting my arm in the grill, didn't want to have to clean grill bits off the watch).

saturday night, we attended a fundraiser auction, very social event for the area (they raised about $800,000 from donors) -- bluesy looked right at home with a button up shirt and khakis .

so, the watch goes with every occassion .. i also wear it in the morning with my pajamas .. only time i feel the watch doesn't quite match the outfit.

I would always go full gold if I could.

In saying that I own a 116613LB and yes that is also a stunner as well. Whats the reason why they are pushing for TT?

Price or because they like the look better? I know a few guys in my watch club they actually prefer the TT version.

possibly if 116618 is on your radar anything less won't be enough. we usually lose money when we have to back out of stuff to then go and get what we initially wanted.

life is glorious and so is the sub in full yellow gold. pls buy it.

I owned the TT for two years and just upgraded to full YG. I did not daily wear the TT but I wear the YG version just as often (once or twice a week). YG has a heft, glow, and warmth that the TT does not.

You have to decide if spending an additional $12-15k is worth having full gold. It was for me and I am very glad I upgraded. However, if you are on the fence and have another watch you are interested in, I recommend adding TT and another SS watch.

Pics of both watches below. Good luck on your decision!

I hear what you’re saying... but honestly I think the bluesy is more flashy than the all gold.

Between the TT and full gold there is absolutely no comparison. Full gold all the way and don’t look back for a second.... That said, full yellow gold Rolex is very loud. Nothing subtle about it. I enjoy being able to switch over to a SS piece when I’d feel less comfortable in full YG (like a charity event where I’m not donating big, lol). As an only Rolex, I’d get something in WG or SS. Smurf perhaps?

I’m really shocked anyone thinks the TT looks better than the full YG. Nothing wrong with the TT, but imo, it can’t compare to the full gold. Not even close.

I would never elect for the TT over YG if budget allowed for it. No hesitation.

I have had two 116613's Black and Blue. Always a lot of positive comments. I decided last year to get the 116618 and love it but had not received any comments on it when wearing it in public. Seems like the 116613 looks flashy!

I tried to talk myself into the TT to save money, tried to convince myself it looked better. I would have loved to have saved some cash but there was no comparison to me. I wear this thing everyday, no regrets.

TT is too 80s 90s douchery.

Mind you an all gold sub is the epitome of douchery. But f*k it's beautiful.

All gold. All the way. And ditch the chick.
