Beautiful 1967 Fuschia GMT
Great example of a GMT that came in for service.
The case is in great shape and is almost untouched...but the top of the lugs. The owner at that time wanted the bark look which was popular with the gold president's. I was able to just ever so lightly remove the bark finish and leave the rest of the case alone. The story and characteristics of each and ever watch never seems to get old.

Wow, that’s a Fatty. Beautiful insert. I have yet to own one but it’s on my bucket list. Great example.
Were you able to get it air tight? I doubt it but figured id ask.

Love it. Also love that your approach was to just take down the bark and not touch anything else. Hilarious that it was ever "barked"

It did...Actually that is a good question...I'd say that out of 20 older sport styled watches, that they all pass aside from 1...maybe 2, but it's rare. Now if the gaskets and worn external parts are ignored, then obviously the odds of passing is slim.

Guess what I'm trying to say is that if the watch is routinely serviced and properly water proof tested, then I say wear it the way it was designed. On the other hand....its an expensive watch...
