Step down or not???

Hi Guys,

I just receive a brand new 114060 from my AD last week, but after trying it, I am thinking about step down to a 14060m 4 liners with random code, since my wrist is small ,and a smaller 14060m with similar movement should fit me better. But not sure if it is a smart move.

Want to get some great opinions from everyone here!

Pictures would be useful. However, the bottom line is that if you’re not happy you should certainly consider an alternative. You’ll be wearing it after all! Personally, unless the fit was terrible I wouldn’t trade down. And that’s assuming the other watch fits you better.

If it suits you better and you prefer it go ahead. I wouldn’t think of it as a step down personally.

Go look at the Tudor Black Bay 58 on the bracelet. Everything the older Submariners were with a modern movement and a warranty. Get at least half your money back and go get a Classic Speed Master or 36 mm Explorer. Just my thoughts.

Sounds like a decent plan, though I’m not the biggest fan of the older bracelet. What about an Explorer 1?

6" wrist

Why would you think a maxi case sub would fit well?

14060m will not fit u.

you cannot remove any links on the 6 o'clock side and the min there is 5 links.

the 114060 can at least be sized down to fit your wrist.

I owned a two line tritium 14060 Sub and bought the 114060 as an upgrade. I have smaller wrists as well and found the 114060 felt top heavy and really didn't fit me well. I kept the 14060 and traded the 114060 for another watch. Do what works for you but I had no issue fitting or enjoying the five digit Sub.

I also suggest trying a Tudor BB58. The problem will be finding one in HK - I haven't seen any yet.

If you hate the maxicase lugs, then yes, I think 5 digit with glidelock is the perfect combo for you.

I kind of feel the same after I try the 114060 and i had tried a 14060M in a second hand shop, which feel lighter and smaller.

I tried in the Ad, but just the excitement of buying the watch make me think everything is perfect at that time.

Get the 14060m. Can use the original bracelet. But ask Michael young to remove a fixed link on the 6 o clock side.

Step down or not???

I think the 14060 would fit you better. Try to get the modern 97200 Glidelock bracelet with it though, that’d be the best combination.

I also have smaller wrists, it’s about 6.5” and rounded. I have the 116710LN (pretty similar to the 114060) and 16570 (pretty similar to the 14060). I do love the GMT, but seems a bit big on my wrists in the summer when I’m wearing short sleeves. Not an issue in the winter though when I have sweaters etc. So I got the 16570 and it looks great. So I suspect it’d be the same for you too, though definitely try it a couple of times.

On the bracelet, currently I have 4 links (1 removable) on the 6 o’clock side, and 4 links (1 removable) + 1/2 link (removable) on the 12 o’clock size. So for your 6” wrists, my guess is that removing all removable links would fit. Do try it out if you can.

Good luck!

I vote to keep the 114060. The size difference to the old modell is not that substantial.

I have owned a 14060, and now own (and wearing today funnily enough!) a 114060c.

Whilst I still enjoy my 5 digit reference (16710) and wear it occasionally, I cannot get away from the fact that the new 6 digit cases feel more substantial, and of a superior build quality. I also love the adjustment in the clasp.

Personally, I believe that the 114060c is one of THE best Rolex models - versatile, understated, lacking Cyclops which I like, timeless, and looking great with both a T-Shirt, or suit for work. Perfection! The 14060 looks a little more tool' like to me, and thus not quite as smart...

Only my 2c's worth!

Both great watches.

Thanks! Smaller watch definitely suit me better, the other reason i like the 14060M 4 liner with random code, is the smallest production of this one inside the 14060M family
