BLNR Gray Inventory Increasing Rapidly
3 weeks ago there were 2 available on Chrono. Yesterday there was 26, today there are 35. I read about all this talk about Rolex tracking serial #s and ADs being vigilant about not selling to Flippers. Well judging from this trend I would have to say that both Rolex and ADs are doing a sh*t job of it. If in fact they are doing any of the above.
Given the fact that many ADs have most likely not received there first BLNR yet I think the quantity and rate of increase on the gray market is stunning. Also ASP is about 22.5K. I know that doesn't mean they sell for that but that's what everyone is asking. Lets see where qty and price balance out if at all. |

Given that it was only recently released, number of ones for sale are expected to rise... also, a lot of the ones listed for sale on chrono are not immediately available. They would source one if/when you purchased it.

Grey's have 'runners' all around the globe....there's no way AD's can tell who is and isnt a flipper these days - which is why they've pretty much set the standard of 'buy these 2 watches and you can have this SS model' so at least they get something out of the deal

Yes of course but the rate of rise is very high in my opinion versus the level of Unavailability there is from ADs.

Ghost listings make sense when there are 100s of watches available but not when there are 35. Where are they sourcing them. Doesn't make sense for them to spend money on a listing for a watch that is a high probability for them not to get. Lets say if only 25% of the listings are ghost that means 9 ghosts are chasing 26 actual watches to make a deal. Why would a dealer with one of these watches make a deal with a ghost lister. No reason to make less money on the watch at this point. Too soon to take a cut in profits.

A large shipment of various watches was recently received by many dealers. Meanwhile guys like me who've bought two at msrp and helped sell a nice Tudor to my friend can't get sh*t from Florida chain store. Good news is my contact at Rolex has been awesome... though they are perplexed as well.
Am waiting for the next crash to write an article for a watch mag. Want to get the ending of this bubble as the final 'chapter.' Been a journalist for luxury goods and watch collector / enthusiast for over 25 years. Take a step or two back, remember the Asian crisis, the dot com bubble... those dwarf this wave.

How does Rolex track serial numbers unless the watch is sent in for service?
My AD has no clue of what goes on with the watches once they're out the door. |

The sudden number of blnr’s for sale is due to all the “VIP’s” getting their supply from the AD’s....
Rolex -> AD -> “VIP” -> Grey -> Us. |

It's the same MO as sneakers and Lego.
Becomes pretty boring and luckily, for sneakers and Lego, they produce thousands of different products that aren't subjected to supply hoarding and market manipulation. It was only a matter of time until such a business model moved to Rolex watches. |
