Last time i was at the Hour Glass in Sydney they had some DJ's, but when it comes to subs and gmts you are dreaming. Worst country for ss Rolex models.

Short of stealing one off a guy on the street, your best bet is going to your travel agent and buying a ticket to Hong Kong and then going to a grey dealer and buying one if you want it now. Otherwise, you’ll need to establish a relationship somewhere. You could always just get lucky at a random ad but that is much harder nowadays.

I got mine from the Hourglass, but I wanted the OP. They got it a week prior from Rolex so I was lucky.

For a SS sports Rolex, your only chance is from an Australian grey dealer at way over the MSRP.

Even during best of times, sports models were not readily available here

If you’re willing to fly, I was at an AD in Oia, Santorini. Had a brief conversation with Yiannis and he is expecting a large delivery in the next two weeks for high season.

He was very welcoming and like everyone else I was only looking to purchase a white DaytonaC. Upon parting ways he gave me the ‘19-20 book which no dealer has ever done.

He expressed that in that shipment there is probably “something” I would purchase.

Surprise your wife with a trip to Santorini!

I have been told categorically by more than one Australian AD that I need to have spent in excess of AU$100k in-store on jewellery (pearls, diamonds etc.) before l could be considered for any SS Rolex sports watch. It would appear previous Rolex purchases count for nothing.

that's a new one for me, maybe its best to just stick with Tudor/Rolex only boutiques for now

Yes. With hindsight, that's what I should have done from the beginning. But, you get sucked into believing they have your interest at heart. Afterall, you're the customer, right? But demand creeps up and suddenly you find yourself competing with wealthier buyers flexing their wallets. Money is less relevant to them, it's all about having the latest and greatest. The AD wants to make hay whilst the sun shines and suddenly the average buyer is priced out of the market.
If you haven't experienced this yourself either you have that fat wallet or you haven't tried to buy a Rolex recently. If I'm wrong please PM me with the name of your AD. Clearly I need to build a relationship with him, he's one in a million :)

!
Meh, spoke with him and he refused to sell without tax as not to disadvantage EU buyers. Pretty silly attitude when it doesn’t Impact him at all.

Try grey dealers or have friends who can help with AD those who have bought before.
I know someone who gets 2 OP and managed to get a sub no date the following month.
Develop a relationship with AD.
Too many Asian in Australia who wants sports and PM and hence hard to get any.
Good luck

Had 90 mins after last meeting before I needed to jump a cab to Airport yesterday. One rather ‘big thinking/self medicating’
grey said “these days you need to spend minimum $500k a year in an AD before being considered for a stainless”. I’d probably bet my Masters In Economics that the AD might be pulling somebody’s chain on that number if you consider the number f households with $1M+ discretionary income in Australia. Be generous and throw in Chinese visitors who are less likely to have a single AD relationship. Take that cash instead to a trusted seller: You could get (in rough terms, Aussie dollars)

- 2 SS Daytona’s @ $40,000 - Ceramic a black and a white
- 2 Pepsi GMT’s @ $29,500
- 1 Batman Jubilee at $32,000,
- 2 Batman Oysters at $28,500, (one to wear, one for the safe)
- 1 Blue Sky Dweller $36,0000
- 1 White Sky Sweller $32,000

That’s AU$270,00 (feel free to correct grey estimates and my ‘addin up’.

Take the $220,00 and buy a nice Mercedes.

There is no waiting list. It makes bad business sense to sell a sort after SS Watch to someone who is only going to only want that single watch.

I'm going to assume the Chinese visitors your AD speaks of are buying multiple watches in a bundle.

It's unfortunate, but in current times, you really have to pay to play.

This is interesting, my brother-in-law works for a Chinese tyre company and took some visiting executives a couple of years ago to the Rolex AD's in Brisbane and they hummed and hawed for a while over available models.

They went across the road to the Omega boutique and one executive decided to buy three Omega Seamasters in different configurations because he couldn't decide on which one he wanted.

Not sure if those spending cconditions still exist, but it's no wonder AD's don't have stock.

I have a good friend who's mother is spending at least a million in diamonds
every 2-3 months with a jeweler who’s also an important Rolex AD.

So my buddy gets all the sports Rolex he wants..no lines no lists..no shortage
....At retail price and no tax..lol...I try to tell him to be sweet and sell to me a little
...above what he paid...but NO he wants almost all the meat...

What the jeweler doesn’t know...the mother is reselling the diamonds in Asia !
