126711 (root bear) vs 116613 (bluesy)

Hi Guys,

I'm torn with these two watches. Tried them both on and both are drop dead beautiful. Wan't fan of TT before but these two changed my mind.
I think the bluesy is more in your face (louder) and the root bear more elegant, just wanted to know what others think.
I am looking to buy brand new, but the chnr is 25% more than retail while I can get the bluesy at retail price (maybe even a little bit below).
My heart ever so slightly leans towards the root bear (maybe because it's newer, I don't know) but my mind says the bluesy is the better buy (with a better clasp as well).

HK is tough, but I believe traveling around will be able to find CHNR at retail once it’s not a new watch. Reminds me of green Milguass when first out. Anyways, I found one in South Asia when on vacation (though they did bring it out from the back).

Sounds like you like both equally, and cost is is an area of concern to you.

In my case I didn’t even want a Bluesy at first, like yourself not least because it’s so in your face.

But I got it, and I love it. More and more each day. I am no longer self conscious about how blingy it might be when I wear it.

Unless you have a greater desire for the CHNR, I don’t think you will go wrong spending a bit less for the Sub.

And it’s always nice not paying over retail.

Bluesy is a classic and should be part of any solid Rolex collection. Put it next to anything and it stands its ground. When I hopd it next to my hulk I wonder why the hulk is worth more! The CHNR is a beautiful piece and I'll add one some day, but the sub is more striking IMO.

Both are nice watches but I prefer the Submariner to the GMT. I have owned Rolex rose gold before and it does not work well with my skin tone nor do I own any other rose gold items. The Submariner has the amazing Glide Lock Clasp which is one of the best ever for a perfect fit. I would also not pay a premium for a watch that will be worth less in the used market as soon as the newness wears off. Go with the TT Submariner, I don't think you will regret it.

The 116613 used to be my favorite, it is stunning and you get a great bang for your buck. The blue dial simply amazing, but yes it is loud and if you are looking to be under the radar this is not the one.

However once i saw that CHNR it really blew me away. Rose gold is a bit more under the radar (which is what I go for!) plus it has the beautiful "root beer" ceramic bezel. The black dial is a bit "basic" but the gilt text and rose gold hour markers/hands really set it off. On top of everything you get the very useful GMT function so overall it is the nearly perfect watch for any situation.

I voted bluesy...though, if I’m honest, it is one of these watches that I like more in theory than on my wrist. I love how it looks on others and have had few chances to buy one from ADs, but when I try one on, I have ended up passing

I tend to like the black Bezel and face on TT Rolex sport watches, but having seen both the above watches in real life, I have a slight preference for the bluesy. Both are very nice, and the CHNR is much better in person than in pics, but I like the bluesy a bit better.

Was initially won over by the Root Beer-having sold my Bluesy...Huge mistake as I was totally regretting the move. However soon found a replacement that was even more accurate (+1 sec per day)and the crown perfectly lines up!
Needless to say I bailed out and have satisfied my Rose Gold craving with a beautiful Rose Gold Yachtmaster 116621 as well.

In two tone, I like the way the RG blends with the steel better than YG. So, CHNR is my vote.

However, in full gold, the bluesy wins. IMO.

So the logical thing would be to get the TT CHNR and full 18k bluesy. Problem solved, you're welcome.

I’ve held both, and I prefer the LB. It’s a classic and always will be imo. The blue is also amazing.

IMO, these are the best two Rolex TT sports models available. Of the two, I prefer the LB - I’ve always loved the blue sunburst dial!

the CHNR is not that hard to get @ MSRP....I would just wait if that's the watch you want....I was able to help out two TRF members out last month and one for my local friend. Local AD got me three rootbeer in less than a month...I'm sure there will be some out there...good luck

I was very close to buying a bluesy about five years ago. But the bling factor was simply a bit much for me. There’s no denying however, it’s a good looking piece.

I finally purchased a TT Rolex, and it was the CHNR. This piece in my opinion, plays both the bling, and the elegant factor very well. You get the luster of gold without so much of the “in your face” factor.

For just a bit more than you’d pay for the CHNR you could have a couple of true blue originals: a 16613 & a 16753.

The original root beer and original bluesy are not hard to find and would serve you as well as the new versions.

If you have already considered vintage and decided against it then apologies for the detour. But if you haven’t tried them on, you may be surprised by their sleeker lines and nice warm colors.

Both are unique & beautiful watches! Between the two, I would definitely pick the 13LB! The blue dial is stunning! It is truly a classic!

I like and owned the Bluesy slightly better as a TT and I like my current Full Gold CHNR slightly better than The YG Sub I had for a while.
But honestly those are the best TTs IMO and you cannot go wrong either way.
The only other TT I really liked a lot in person was 5980-1AR which is now a very UNREASONABLE price.
