WG Blue Dial Sky-Dweller?

I posted yesterday asking for opinions on deciding between a 126300 DJ41 w/ blue dial and a 116400 Milgauss Z-Blue. Walking around after lunch out of town this afternoon I stopped into an AD to see if they happened to have either in stock (fat chance) and try on a 126300 again for size.

You can imagine I was shocked to see a blue dial Sky-Dweller sitting in the case and immediately asked about it. Knowing I've wanted a blue dial for a while I've lusted over the Sky-Dweller, but figured the SS blue dial version was out of my price range at the crazy inflated grey market rates. I asked about the watch and the saleswoman took it out and placed it on my wrist saying, "this is the white gold version". I was confused at first because I didn't remember hearing about that configuration before. The watch felt somewhat heavy, but the Sky-Dweller is a big watch to begin with, and I'm also not familiar enough with PM watches to know for sure. To double-check I asked the price and she said it was $48K, which sounded in line with a real PM version. I asked again, "so this is the full white gold version, bracelet and all?" and she said that was correct. I handed it back, we looked at a few more pieces, thanked her for her time and left.

When I got home it was still bothering me, so I searched online but cannot find a full WG version of the Sky-Dweller with a blue dial, on a WG bracelet. The closest I get is a 326939, but that only seems to come with black or white dials. Or a 326139, but that only comes on a leather strap.

Am I just missing something? Does a full WG blue dial Sky-Dweller at that price exist?

Yes. I had a similar question a few weeks back. They’re uncommon but they do exist. There’s a black dial as well. Apparently it was a limited run, and there isn’t too much info readily available on them. My AD still has both sitting in the case.

Was there any other difference between the WG and SS model besides the material?

Yes, it does indeed exist.

It was made during the very earliest period immediately after the introduction of the Rolesor Skydweller.
It was effectively an option for the PM models and limited to certain colour combinations of which WG and the blue stick dial was most favourable.
Obviously, up against the price point of the Rolesor model they were not destined to sell well.
Hense the NOS which can still be found around the place.

Yes.
The bracelet is very slightly narrower on the PM version.

Nope, none that I could see. I'm kicking myself for not turning it over to look for a gold hallmark when I had it in hand.

Very interesting, I learned something new. I thought it could be a NOS situation but when I couldn't find any mention of it online it threw me off. Thanks for the info guys - oh well, guess I won't be a Sky-Dweller owner after all

Just got back from a week in Dubai & saw the white dial WG version in the main store in Dubai Mall. Similarly, I hadn't known this existed...

Was stickered at 195,000AED, but offered 15% discount, plus 4% tax refund at the airport, so came in at roughly £35k. Decided against the purchase as would prefer the blue dial - although the sales guy said that they could change the dial to black for around £500, but weren't allowed to order the blue dial replacement!! Looks like C24 has new examples with blue dial for £32k.

Was originally looking at a WG Submariner, but tried that on & didn't like the colour, so been searching for a WG GMT with the blue dial, but seemingly no chance of sourcing via an AD. However, a WG Sky Dweller with a blue dial is now a possible alternative to that...

You must have been in Kerns. I tried that same watch on Saturday. It’s beautiful. But you can buy the SS version from a grey dealer for half that. And MSRP for SS is 14,400. However, good luck finding the SS!

No there is not. I believe that Rolex discontinued the WG, stick dial version of the Sky-Dweller because it's identical visually to the steel model.

The blue steel case look more sharper than blue WG. There is a slight difference in dial light reflex.

Anyone have a picture so we can compare and contrast? I didn't notice a difference between the two outside of the WG have a slighty different hue.

I thought the lug width and bracelet were different. I could be wrong. Lug width on WG 21mm and SS 22mm.

Here's one (previously sold). https://davidsw.com/watches/rolex-wa...ith-blue-dial/

Saw one at an AD in Boston earlier this year...
