Need your advice on Rolex Daytona 116520

Hi!

Looking to buy my first Rolex, and as a new to this business, would love to get some more professional opinions.
Not sure if this for here or vintage, but i think this model still goes here :)
Anyway, i'm close to buy this Rolex Daytona 116520, f serial, 2005.
The watch is stated as "Excellent" condition, and comes with box and papers.

Would love to get your opinion on the watch condition (and authenticity, if you find anything suspicious), based on the attached photos.
I hope their quality is good enough to review.

Thanks a lot for your opinion!

Looks real imo. Suspect that there is a light polish, but someone more seasoned certainly determine that. Who is the seller?

Hi,

Seller is a private person, he showed me papers and an invoice from Zaeger (Australian grey dealer) store.

What do you think on the condition? Does it look polished? over polished?

Thanks for your help!

It looks good . The watch has been polished there is still some color left on bezel. If you’re not comfortable stay away . There are plenty of watches always feel good with your purchase. Good luck !!

Looks excellent - a light polish but nothing that detracts from a fine looking watch.

Price matters... condition is good, but not excellent. Watch has been polished.

Looks good to me but, what’s the price? You can get a new bezel fitted for around $300 at RSC, the case looks good. Not sure, unable to offer advice on bracelet stretch in those photos. Bracelet looks good aesthetically though.

It's been polished but not overpolished. So who cares. They have all been polished. It's a good honest looking watch. If you like it, and are happy with the price, enjoy it!

As others have said....polished but still looks great. If it’s a good deal or not would depend on price, but these are rising very quickly for nice , complete, good condition pieces

x2. I had the white one first then from seeing all these beautiful shots of the black one, I got the black. Sold it in less than a few weeks because it just couldn’t compare to the white one (my opinion). White looks very unique and surprisingly classy even next to black.

Hi,

Thanks a lot everyone!

The is being sold by a private seller (not a dealer), whom showed me a receipt from Zaeger, the Australian dealer. He obught the watch from him.
The service history is unknown, but it will be checked, wanted to get your opinion on the aesthetic shape of the watch.
Zaeger opened the watch and it is still under their warranty (watch bought from them less than a year ago).

Price is $15.5K USD.

What do you think?

Sorry just saw box and papers. I would say that’s an acceptable price. I have seen them for that price naked lately

I like the black over the white in this Daytona model. White was just a little too washed out for me. I like it. One of the best references around.

15.5 is a great price for a nice honest Daytona with B&P. I'd snap that sucker up. Really really nice examples that are basically unused with all documentation are pulling 18-19K now. More for some little dial variants and such. Saw an APH Chromalite white dial actually sell for 21K in the UK a month ago. Prices are crazy. 15.5 is a solid price for that watch.

The only suspicious is that you call it "business"!

Thank you everyone!

So it does look like a reasonable deal to make.

Are you buying it because of the hype surrounding the Daytona or because you truly appreciate it? It's a great watch but not one I see many people getting as the first. Just don't want you to be purchasing as an "investment" because then you will never truly enjoy it. You will always be worried about something happening to it,

IF buying as investment look for an unpolished example like the one in the later pic....beauty

Looks good and price is fair, but I prefer the white dial. White is easier for resale and more popular. I have owned both.

Hi,

No, i'm not "investing" in watches, i have stocks for that :)
I think the hype surrounds almost every sporty Rolex model these days...

I have an extremely tiny wrist (5.5"), and the Daytona is, imho, the Rolex that fits me best. And, similar to others, I really love the way it looks.

Best,
Kobi

You know it’s interesting. Many folks feel the “APH” is insignificant but if the gmt so called stick dial is an error than the gap which is no longer on the new Daytona is definitely an error. I’m fact I feel the gap is more of an error than the Stick dial on the gmt.

It looks good, but I certainly wouldn't call it "excellent". Make sure that you have an official honest-to-goodness Rolex warranty card (even if it is expired) as that really seems to affect Daytona prices (I know this because I just sold one without). Also, as an older model it does not have the engraved rehaut which also detracts from the selling price.

Personally I think that 15.5 is ridiculous, but if that's what the market is bringing and you like it, then that's a decision that only you can make. You can buy a gold Daytona (albeit with a strap, not bracelet) for less than that (I know this because I just sold one). If you had offered me $15,500 for it, I would have flown to Israel to deliver it!

These are changing hands now at around 17k, so price is good ...the bezel you can replace
for a small amount of money - I doubt that the seller has another Israeli interested to pay
15.5k for this Daytona
