Possible to notch own strap?

Hi guys, I'm a PAM newbie with <6 inch wrists...

So I bought a 40mm model (050).

I'm having trouble finding a good aftermarket rubber dive strap in the 22mm size, as almost all the straps out there are 24+mm for the more popular larger panerais. So I was wondering if it's feasible to notch these straps myself.

I'm thinking rubber might not be that hard to work with--I've only got to cut off 1 millimeter on each side, right? Leather or Kevlar, etc. might be tougher. But if I could pull this off, I could use all kinds of more affordable straps, used straps, etc...

anyone had experience with this? Am I crazy?

Haven't done it myself, but read a few posts and seen pics on risti of people doing it. Some with good results, and some fubar'd. Good luck and go slow if you try.

I would keep looking. Some of the custom guys work with Kevlar and the Horween leather from GSD is said to be waterproof to a large extent.

By something on e-bay try your hand at it for a little money - if it works - go for it.

It's easy.

You will need:-

One sharp exacto blade.

One Gin & Tonic.

Not necessarily in that order.

So how long does the strap need to soak in G&T for before it's ready to be cut on?
