Swap Rolex 16618 for Daytona ss 116500

I have a Rolex pre ceramic 16618 gold sub with blue dial.
The dealer I bought it off three years ago has offered me the same money back i purchased if for plus 4 GBP in exchange for the ceramic white dial Daytona.
I am not attached to the gold sub and very rarely wear the watch.
I am wondering what folks on here would do and whether they would do the trade?
Thanks all for your thoughts and input.

I wouldn't, but I'm a bigger sub (especially 5 digit +gold ) fan
With that said, doesn't seem like you're enjoying it at all.
Have you been eyeing the Daytona for a while? Do you think it would get more wrist time?

Not sure what your cost will be. I would do it since you will be getting 4 grand back along with a white Daytona.

I would not do it. Sorry. Love the 5 digit gold sub too much, and the 500 is overpriced.

So essentially you are trading an 18-20K USD Sub +4K cash for a SS/White Daytona? I say no way. You would be better getting a gold Daytona than SS.

I would look for a better deal. You are getting fleeced.
Paying grey market price 25K for a 12.4K SS Daytona is incredibly dumb.

I personally wouldn't do it.

But hey, if you think the Daytona will get more wrist time, go for it.

Too much money out for you. Maybe $1K, but not $4k.

LOL

One of the worst trades there is. That is a $20k watch and your going to add money on TOP of that for a $12k SS watch. Hahahaha

The madness is real.

Thank you for all your comments everyone.
Sometimes when your in that situation it takes other people’s opinions to realise what’s the right thing to do.
Was never happy with that trade, always in dealers favour so gold sub is going nowhere.

only a watch dealer could put forward such a terrible proposition that even when we thought the 4k was going to you it was shaky.

i would love to be educated on dealer margins etc because i frequently substantially overestimate what they seem willing to offer.

Straight trade or slight money from you and I would consider it depending on how much you have in the Submariner and how badly you want the Daytona-C.

YG Sub is too nice to get rid of, IMO. That said, it seems like you aren't enjoying it. I'd find a better deal to get out of your Submariner & into a Daytona. Let me ask, do you REALLY want a Daytona because you like it, or do you just want to get into something other than the Submariner? I say this because it seems like some people want to "make the jump" to a Daytona. I've never really been a fan of the Daytona, so I couldn't justify the jump. Maybe an SS GMT2? YG for some is too much, which I totally understand. When I wear my DJ (on weekends), I'm much more away that I'm wearing something flashier than my SS dailies.
