Old Rolex Identification

Can anyone give me any info on an old Rolex? I inherited it in an estate and I can't find another one like it on the internet. The serial number on the side is almost rubbed off but it looks like the first number is a 7 which would lead me to believe it might be made in 1939.

The watch runs and keeps time. Right now I have it in the shop getting serviced.

I can't post any pictures because apparently I need 10 posts before I can do that. I would be glad to email photos to anyone interested. I want to sell the watch.

The watch is smallish, I think about a 31mm case size. It looks like a military style watch. It says Rolex Oyster all on one line and then it says Shock-Proof above the 6. The movement says Rolex - 15 Rubis - Swiss Made but other than that I don't see any other markings on the movement.

Another thing I notice on the watch is the words Rolex and Oyster on the dial are all on one line and appear to be in a sans serif font, not the typical Rolex font. I suspect maybe the dial was refurbished at some point by someone who really did not know what they were doing. Even fakes get the font right (or close). The case and the movement are verified genuine Rolex, that dial has me stumped.

You can email me the photos

RolexWatchTime@att.net

I'll scope the dial for you.

Serial number would also be helpful.

If the numbers are between the lugs it is post 1944. Shock resisting also not available before 1945 or so.

The Serial sounds like it is 1951 if it starts with 7 and is 6 digits...if it starts with 7 and is less than 6 digits it is 1954.
