Explorer II 16550 Help

Need the assistance/advice from the wealth of knowledge here!

I am looking to buy an explorer II 16550 with the cream dial, 1986, complete with box/papers. I've done a great deal of research and the best example I've been able to find has an asking price of $28,500.

Everything is original on the watch, unpolished condition, and this has been vetted with some very knowledgeable guys who deal in vintage pieces only.

Question really is, as there are not many out there for sale, is this price absurd? Or is this legitimately where the market currently is on these? Thanks

Is it one of the cream dials? Like you said it's tough to find a baseline considering how few of them are usually available for sale and how few of those are good condition w/ box and papers.

I think it's high though. The only other one I've seen that high was a cream rail dial originally sold by Van Cleef.

Exactly. Yes it’s a cream dial/rail dial/all original complete set, and my birth year of 1986 so it has a lot going for it (except the price lol).

I absolutely love the watch but I’m worried about the price. I think it’s the cleanest example on the market though so maybe it’s worth it. I’ll probably talk myself into it soon lol

Doesn’t sound too absurd to me.
More sketchy ones without your vetting ask in that ballpark or more it feels like.

That said, $30k is a lot for a watch but it ticks off so many boxes for you.

I’d go for it.

Explorer II 16550 Help

It is a reasonable price for that watch with box, papers in excellent shape.

I'd like to see a picture of it if you can post one?

Is it a Rail or Non-Rail?

Hands and dial match creamy color wise?

Mine Say HI!
