116520 vs 116500

Would you upgrade your 116520 black to 116500 black if you had the chance? Which one is better in your opinion?

Already have the the white one. Cheers!

Looks like your head has been turned.

I've got both the black & white variants of the 116500, but looking at what you have at the moment, that's the perfect set up. I love the 116520 so I'd keep it at what you have.

It’s not an upgrade, simply a preference. Better, depends on what you are looking for. 116520 is a bit less sporty, and may walk the line better than the the ceramic version which is closer to the sporty side on the dressy-sporty continuum. The white dial ceramic Daytona is a bit less integrated with 3 colors and the black and white appear almost jarring as the black is a deep black and the white very stark. I may be one of the few here that almost views the ceramic versions as just another ss Daytona option similar to the gold versions with green or blue dials and such.

No, I'd keep the 116520.

I like your current setup. Two 500s seems a bit redundant unless you have a huge collection or really love that model more than anything.

I think you have the best two SS Daytonas. In my opinion, they grade:

1) 116500LN White
2) 116520 Black
3) 116500LN Black
4) 116520 White

I had a 116520 and it wasn’t one I could bond with. On the other hand I love my 116500. It feels like an entirely different watch. So yes. I would.

Keep both generations and then continue to add the new generations... you'll end up having most of the dsytona lineage... lol

Keep the 520. Great duo in my opinion. I personally still favor the 520 over the 500 - and wear both.

I would keep this combo as well or move the 116520 for a PM version? I like the variations between the generations. In my books it wouldn’t make too much sense to duplicate the watch with only a different dial.

Something about the 116520 just doesn't sit right with me. Maybe it's all the polished surfaces, but it's easily my least favorite Daytona reference.

I concur. White dial just works with the ceramic bezel, and the black dial works great with the steel bezel.

I had the black 116520 and went with the black 116500. Personally, I did not like how the bezel scratched on the previous version.

I personally would upgrade if I were in a position to do so. I like the black ceramic a lot, even more than the white, actually (which is apparently the minority view). The glossy black bezel just complements the inky dial so well, to my eye.

But, obviously that's very much a 1%-er problem. The watch you already have is gorgeous. I sure as hell wouldn't complain if I had either.

I have a 520 and love it. Would not trade for a 500, but would love to add a 500.

Not really an upgrade, a wash to me. And I like these 2 the most also out of 116500/116520 combos.

Just over a year ago without the blink of an eye I purchased the one I'd been wanting for 25 years - the black dial 116520, the ceramic just didn't do it for me....my Grail and still my favourite.

Black dial: 116520, White dial: 116500. Best combo of steel Daytonas in my (and I guess many others') opinion.

I have worn the 116520 and ceramics and the ceramics feel slightly bigger. Has anybody ever measured both models?

I agree. I have this too. All of them are nice. Can’t go wrong

The 520 black dial is the best looking one over the white. Also it’s the most rare one. Everyone back then wanted the white so the black was the least sold. It will be worth more down the road. Keep it. New collectors will be chasing and paying premium after it. And that’s my secret to you
