Opinions on the Yacht Master Rhodium Dial?

Given the acute shortage of steel professional watches, I have all but given up on ever acquiring a Pepsi in steel.

My AD has the Yacht Master - 116622 available in both a blue dial and a rhodium dial, which I quite like, at retail prices.

While the Yacht Master doesn’t get much love, I was wondering if those of you who have the rhodium dial one would share your experiences - particularly concerned about the platinum bezel scratching as well as scratches on the PCL of the bracelet.

My current lineup consists of an Explorer 1, a PAM 233 and a rose gold 1815 Up/ down. Should I pull the trigger on the Yacht Master or continue hoping that a Pepsi will somehow find its way home to me?

The rhodium with light blue accents is really nice.

Considering that until very recently, YMs were heavily discounted, I’d have a hard time paying retail. But if you love it, why not? The market is the market.

I have this YM, and I love it. I have only marked the bezel once, but I'm pretty easy going on my watches. I think the tales of its fragility are overstated. It is a beautiful piece, imo.

I have the Rhodium dial and love it! Probably the most comfortable to me from the 6 digit sports line

Agree with others on the Rhodium dial with blue accents. I have it and think it’s one of the most beautiful watches Rolex has ever created.

I should add that I got it from DavidSW in early 2018 (it’s warranty was dated nov or dec 2017). At the time it was discounted but I’ve noticed the same model now on David’s site only slightly below retail. That said, I’d search trusted sellers first. This is one of the few remaining models that is even considered for a small discount off MSRP.

Thanks folks. Great advice as always! The one available here in Delhi is the updated reference with 3 days power reserve. No discounts available, unfortunately, thoughbagvthe current exchange rate, I’m looking at circa US$ 10.50k. Did a quick check on chrono 24 and it doesn’t seem too bad.

I’m just wondering if it makes sense to hold out for the GMTs (to at least see them in person)?

FWIW - the YM is available in blue, rhodium and chocolate dials (this one is a two tone). No discounts available on any Rolex pieces.

The Yacht Master 116622 is a very nice watch, I purchased the blue dial. I have no problems with the bezel, it is great for daily wear off course I would not wear it to do any labor intensive work. Great watch go for it.

No issues with mine. I absolutely love it and it is not a scratch magnet as others think. I think you’d enjoy it!

X2......I have also had the Blue Dial 116622 for a few years.

It's a regular in my Rolex wrist rotation and the bezel is essentially without a scratch. Love the red second hand against the sunburst blue dial, which, in my opinion, the platinum bezel and the SS band with PCLs compliment nicely. Good luck with your choice.

+1 for the YM. I have the blue dial and it is one of my favorite pieces. The rhodium dial is gorgeous as well.

I tend to be a bit more careful with this piece than say my sub or explorer, but it still looks fantastic and I’ve had it for years.

pretty cool one and I can imagine someday I may acquire one with the new movement, if the price is right.

I am certainly thinking about getting a YM next. I still can’t make up my mind on the Rhodium or Blue dial versions though.

I agree with others reference comfort; I tried a YM TT on at an AD (they didn’t have any SS YM’s in stock) and it was very comfortable. I like the less boxy case shape of the YM, over that of the six digit Subs and GMTs.

It’s not the dial, it’s the bezel
Due to this, only the RG and the WG ones are interesting to me.

I have the 37mm and really like it. I think it’s one of the few watches with a numbered bezel that looks good with a suit.

I've owned the plat dial YM 116622 for 4 years, no problem with the bezel.

Great looking watch, I actually prefer it to the blue dial. Just be sure you're getting it because it's what you want rather than because it's available.

I echo the comments from above. As an owner of a YM blue, the rumors of the bezel being easily scratched are waaayyyyy overblown. Not one mark on mine and I wear it a lot.

Beautiful underrated watch. I prefer the dark blue dial, it has a nice deep ocean blue, wish they made it in 37mm I would go buy it right now.

Next on my list. I like the rhodium dial gives the bezel and the case symmetry. The blue dial in bright light may look a little off in contrast to the bezel.
