Chances of buying a SubC
Hi guys,
I purchased a oyster perpetual a few months ago from an AD (this was the first purchase I’ve made there). Now I have the itch for a Submariner. What are my chances of getting on the “list” as a return customer? Thanks so much! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Probably pretty good, but they're the ones you should be asking.

Welcome to the forum. I should think you’ll be able to land a SubC in a decent amount of time

Give them a call or stop by in-person as soon as you can if you're ready. Even if you have only purchased one watch from them in the past, that should help in acquiring a Sub.

I would imagine they would be good. Never hurts to ask. As a genuine previous customer they should work with you. Let us know how it goes.

I just fed all your vital statistics through the Rolex SS Availability Analyser and the results are in.
Seems you have a 0-100% chance. Good luck and let us know how you go

Whether you get a watch or not is the real question

I just think it’s laughable we’re at this stage when questions are being asked of what the chances are of buying a seemingly standard, available watch. Rewind the clock not too long ago & even the hulk was sitting in the windows of AD’s, unloved & difficult to shift.

Good luck go back to the salesperson you bought the watch from, and try to forge a relationship with him or her and see what happens

It's very likely, my first purchase was a 39m white OP last Christmas. I got a call in May for a submariner. I did drop by every few weeks to say hi so you could drop by every once in a while so they would know you're still interested.

Would someone here be willing to share which models are hard to get? I don't really follow this stuff all that close, only really knowing that some SS models are rare now.
I assume the Skydweller and Daytonas are forget about it level. The GMTs seem right behind, as well as Hulks. Does this extend to a simple Submariner/Explorer? Are things (traditionally less desired) like the Mil, Ex 2, and Air King hard to get? What about the different variants of divers? I know this is common knowledge for most people, so I don't want to start a thread. Thanks for anyone kind enough to share. |

YMMV but I never had a purchase history with this one AD but I asked to be put on the list for a SS Submariner about a month ago. I kept going back every week to see if they got any new shipment and today they called me saying the sub is ready for pickup. Of course, I picked it up right away.

So went by the AD, inquired about the SubC date.
They basically told me that there’s people waiting for years for this and told me to call every week to check in. Feeling down after that especially with a prior purchase. Guess I will drop by multiple ADs and try my luck. If anyone has leads in the NY area I would appreciate it! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Follow up with the same person or manager or owner every time or else nobody will know who you are. Stop in once in a while as well. |

I’d continue to follow up. Sub C date is not that difficult to come by from an AD
Secondly grays aren’t getting a real premium so you could always go that route if you absolutely don’t want to wait for MSRP. Good luck. |

My jeweler in the diamond district quoted me 11.5k and davidsw quoted me 11.8k for a brand new SubC date. Msrp with ny tax comes out to around 9.3k, almost 2.2k premium. I absolutely don’t mind waiting a few months as i want to be the original purchaser and I want this as a heirloom to pass off to my kids Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
