Pelagos Blue for a Polar 16570?

Folks,
Considering selling my Blue Pelagos that I bought new for 3300$ 4 months ago, for a polar 16570... Reason being, I can see the Polar holding it's value better than the Pelagos+ being thinner and having a GMT hand. Having said that, I really like the Pelagos and it goes very well with my 114270 Explorer.

Is it a smart move, or am I going to miss the tech and coolness of the Pelagos?

Appreciate your opinion.
Cheers!

You will miss the Pelagos! It is a keeper.

I would start to save up and treat yourself to a Polar at some point in the future, as an addition.

If you can trade the TPel for the RExpii, straight up, you do that in a heartbeat!

They are both great tool watches, but, so much more upside with the polar, and it's a 5k+ watch all day.

I'm usually 100% for the Pelagos, but in your situation if it was one or the other I'd go Polar Explorer all day long. I'd get a lot more use out of the Polar than the Blue Pelagos

I wish it was a trade without adding cash...
It's not the case... It will be selling the Pelagos and then hunting for an Explorer II

I have both, and I'm glad I do. The Pelagos feels more substantial, while the 16570 is more "refined" from a tool watch perspective.

If you can swing it, have both. If not, go for the one that fits your lifestyle more.

Thanks for the input!
Why are you saying that the 16570 is more refined? Because it is thinner and smaller? Has a longer run? Appreciate your input!

Get the EXP2 if you care about value. You know it's going to hold it vs. any Tudor.

The polar 16570 ship has kind of sailed already, especially the 3186 version.

Things changed rapidly... Already put my Pelagos for sale and started looking at 16570...
I just can't sake the thought that keeping a Rolex is smarter financially, and if I keep a Tudor, I'll be getting further away from a Rolex by the day...

You bought a watch and you like it, but you want to sell it for another that might retail value better? Seems like a bad move to me. Wear and enjoy the watch. You can’t wear “value retention”.

Appreciate your input.
I still, however, think that you can wear a Rolex confidently plus knowing that it will retain its value... And it is, after all, consideration for me..

The Pelagos could be easily replaced later. The polar could get out of reach if you wait too long.

Keep the Pelagos. Great watch and is made of titanium, great lume, adjustable clasp and come with a great rubber strap. If it was a straight trade without cash from you and the Explorer was complete and in good condition I would say go for it as there is about a $2000-3000 difference in the values. I would sit tight and enjoy my Pelagos, I own the blue and LHD, and figure out my next step. If you have the watch urge why not look at one of the "Save the Ocean" Seiko's and pickup another fun watch and enjoy it. Just my thoughts. Good luck.

Polar, but the Pelagos is an awesome watch. I just think it could be a little smaller in every dimension.

I traded away my LHD, and honestly no regrets. It’s a great watch, but it was a little tall and I just grew bored with it . I also have an 16570 and it’s a fantastic watch that I will always keep.. happy hunting.

Things escalated rather quickly...
I am supposed to have a new Polar 16570 in two weeks...
Hope I am not making a mistake.

Have you tried on a 16570? It wears substantially smaller, in that its thinner and lighter. My scale shows my Pelagos at 141.3g to 120.7g on my 16570/3186. The Pelagos has more "presence" while the EX2 is more subdued. It also catches more attention to non-WIS, if that matters.

It looks like you've made a decision. My comment is more of an advisement that if you got the Pelagos because you like how it wears, the 16570 wears differently.

Either way, both great watches, so enjoy!

Just got my 16570 polar this week and it is such a great piece. I went with a late 3185 from 2007 because the one I was offered was near mint, and I didn't want to pay the upcharge for the 3186. Not sure what the hype is about. http://blog.watchdoctor.biz/2018/02/...-3185-vs-3186/

I wore many 14060s, 16610, permits, ceramic GMTs, and I'd say that a big part of why I like Rolex is their modest sizes... It's not that I like the Pelagos big size compared to the Rolex, but more of a didn't care for the Pelagos size too much... The size of the Older 39-40 Rolex cases is awesome...

I made the mistake of trading my 16570 last year and missed it so much that I bought another one earlier this year. It is one of those watches that is just the right weight, size and legible. Fixed bezel, rugged and GMT function. What’s there to not like?

I’d do that without question. I’ve owned a Pelagos and don’t understand the love for it personally
