Should I take the Black today or White much later?
I have the opportunity to buy a black Daytona from my AD now. I've been on the "list" (whatever that means, lol) for 3 years waiting for the white Daytona. My AD says it'll be "probably one more year but can't say for sure" before it's my turn. Doesn't sound promising, but its better than getting laughed out of the store. However, he told me he has a black one he can sell me now. Should I just settle for the black now? Slightly lesser bird in hand...
Consideration: I like the black one a lot, but I like the white one more. Also, if I take the black, I believe I'll never be offered the white one as the AD will feel like he already "took care" of me. What do you think? |

I've tried on both and I think the black is the nicer of the two. I agree that you probably only have one shot at this. I would say purchase the black, and if you don't like it then flip it for the white as someone suggested.

tough call.
I am in the same boat; except I have the black and have not worn it yet... I would get it....might not get another chance.... Maybe you could tell the dealer you will trade if a white comes in? Then go from there |

If it is available now, you owe it to yourself to at least see it in person. If it does not sing to you, let it go. Or like others said, see if a TD would trade for a white dial with minimal $ out of pocket

I would buy it and see if you can still stay on the list for the white. Then when the white comes in (even if 2-3 years later), you can always flip the black without a loss.

Buy the Black as it is being offered right now. I, like you was on the list for the White dial at my AD but was offered the Black and was told you can wait 3 months for the White dial to come in (that's if it comes in) so no definite time frame.
I took the Black as my SA told me that you never know if (and a BIG IF) you'll get the White from us. Best decision I made was to the get the Black dial. I'm still on the 'list' for the White dial but I know that will never amount to anything. I ended up picking up the White dial from a different AD (both were about a 36 month wait). You won't regret it!

Get the black now. Bird in hand as they say. Enjoy it then switch to the white when finally available.

That's a tough one, since I was offered the black a few times but waited for the white. It sounds like your AD isn't instilling the most confidence about getting you the white, so go with your gut.

Get the black now. Definitely a bird in hand situation, and if you don’t like it flip it for the white (although you will have to come out of pocket a couple grand)
But, you may be surprised and like the black. I have the white. I was obsessed over the white. Bought it, paid a premium, had it for a year, now wish I had the black lol. There’s just something very “abrupt” about the black bezel with white dial. The all black just seems so much more sleek. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Go for it. You might even luck out down the road and swap with another WIS for the white.

In my opinion FWIW.., The black dial is the bomb !!!! The white dial is a wash to me but if that’s what you ultimately want then ... I think it’d be much easier to flip the black dial for the white with the least amount of $$$ burned or possibly even a trade with someone who doesn’t want the white and desires the black? You never know. I’d get the black dial and call it a very HAPPY day ! |

I have the black waited a long time for the white also, hands down the black is far more versatile I find, but if you really want the white dial, then best wait.

If you buy a black one from one of the DC AD's they take you off the list for a white one. Too many other high-roller customers on the waiting lists around here.
I waited and got the white one. I didn't regret that decision. |

Before purchasing the black one, I would confirm if you will still be on the “list” and considered should a white dial make its way in. Hard for us to say how the AD will treat this situation post purchase.
For what it’s worth, I was set on a black dial SS Sky-D and came across a white dial at an AD abroad. Before purchasing, I phoned my local Dallas RSC to verify if I could change dials to black. The rep confirmed and said it was possible for $1650~. My gut said to go ahead and purchase as I doubt I’ll get this opportunity again, and in the event I still want black I have the option of switching. I didn’t classify this as settling since I could have them simply swapped. Needless to say, I fell in love with the white dial and haven’t looked back! |

Buy it, give it a shot, keep it in pristine condition in case you decide to flip for a white one...

Should I take the Black today or White much later?
If you have to ask the question — you know the answer....
Wait and get the one you want. Without a doubt. Let someone have the black dial that really wants it. Settling just yields unhappiness. Period. The majority of the answers here - as well as forthcoming ones that say buy now - just continue to feed the ‘beast’. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Did you see it in person. It might change your mind. Black is a stunner. I was in a similar situation. Turned down the first black dial the first time. Got a second change months later and decided to take it. I'm still waiting for a white dial and it's been almost three years.

A bird in the hand is worth two in the bush...that said, I prefer the black dial regardless.

Have to purchase, and hug some other ADs until you get the white.

Dude, take the watch. 4 year wait for a white? That sounds to me like your being offered your one and only chance. Also the black is awesome.
