WWYD, Torn

I was at my AD and there was a guy there, very friendly, trying to get SS watches that are just not available. The owner of the AD, who I have a very good relationship with, told this guy about my 116710 LN and my SD43(MKI) and the customer started asking what I would sell them for.

I won’t go into the awkwardness of this guy trying to buy my watches in front of the guy who sold them to me, but it was awkward. Anyway, I threw some numbers out there, he left, never heard from him.

Until today. So my question... I told him I’d sell both for 10% more than $20. What do you think of the pricing? If he calls me back he’s going to haggle. I don’t really want to sell. If you were me, what would you do?

If you’re wondering what I’d do after selling before answering: If I sell, and adding to my current watch savings, I could, with a bit of a discount, get a DD40 (WG, green dial probably) and a Sky Dweller (blue - at retail). IF I could actually get them of course. And yeah, I’d buy from my AD.

It would be hard to let these go, love them both, and I’d be moving to a rather dressy Rolex collection from a rather sporty one.

Thanks for your input. Need to be ready to make a move if the move presents itself. He’d meet me at a bank and bring cash and I’d verify all his cash was not counterfeit.

Don’t do it. You had no intention of selling either watch don’t sell because this Radom guys wants them.

Add the other two to your collection when the time is right.

Why is your AD telling strangers about your very expensive watches. I would have been pissed. Wasn't there so I don't know the circumstances but no way in hell would I want someone I do not know getting too familiar with me or what I have in a public place like this. Probably fine but what if he wasn't. Maybe he follows you home and all of a sudden your house is getting broken into. Probably being paranoid but you never know now and days.

Don’t sell. Tell the potential buyer that you have changed your mind.

My thoughts exactly, not a cool move by the AD....he couldn't sell the guy any SS Rolex so he pawned him off onto you.

I’ll present a contrarian view... If he’s coming in at a price you’re happy with, why not? Of course, only makes sense if you were going to sell eventually anyway. This just accelerates things and maybe makes them a bit easier.

Torn because a random guy wants your watches?

Don’t do that to yourself.

If you want to sell, then go for it.

If you don’t, don’t let some random dude get into your head.

This seems about right given the situation. Poor behavior on the part of the AD.

Thanks everyone. I should have added this guy bought two rolexes while he was at me AD with cash. He pulled away in a Bentley. He’s legit and a real buyer. But if I meet him to sell him my watches I’ll be “properly prepared”.

AD wanted you to sell your watch so you can buy the bundle from them. Win win in my book.
