Golf With Your Watch?

I just wonder that should I take my TT daytona off before tee off each time I golf or just leave it there? I used to wear an ORIENT AUTOMATIC while golfing and it's just fine (but ORIENT is $$$ compares to ROLEX is $$$$$!) Would golf hurts my Daytona?

I'd say that if you are pretty smooth and fliud with your swing....it will be fine. If you hack and chunck up huge divots (like me)...I would take it off and put it in the bag. Having said that, I have frequently played with my sub....but never with my daytona.

No. The sports I enjoy such as tennis and jogging require one to swing the arms a good bit. My Expy II weighs a little heavy on the wrist. I would imagine golf would be the same way.

I do wear a Casio jogging watch which is not as heavy as my Expy.

Just my thoughts.

i wouldn't - i'm sure the watch can handle it, but all the g forces are bound to temporarily affect the hairspring, and therefore the short term accuracy of the watch.

I take it off for shooting... since i saw a guy's watch loose its hands because of the vibrations (it was a Seiko...).

I play golf with my rollie on. I don't think anything inside can be hurt by swinging a golf club. well that said I never take off my watch except to maybe clean it with a tooth brush. If Rolex can't take the daily abuse I wouldn't have one. just my $0.02

Well that is kind of my thinking and why i never gave it any thought. Besides the history of the Rolex I bought mine so I could have one (well maybe more) watch for ever and not have to worry about putting a 50.00 crystal in a 100.00 watch every six months or just buying a 100.00 watch ever six months.

I take mine off just because I don't like the feel when swinging the club, particularly on the follow through.

I have never taken any watch off playing golf or shooting high power rifles!
If the thing can't hold up to sports ...why have a sports watch?

OK The final answer. Don't do it, it changes the swing weight of your clubs.

The forces of golf, shooting, tennis etc. will likely not kill your watch but the centrifugal force does add wear to parts. I am rather certain jack-hammer operators would likely need to service movement/replace parts more often than Miss Daisy's Submariner (no she didn't have one).

Golf With Your Watch?

Ask me in 20 years time, I'm far too young for golf

I usually take off my watch when I go to driving range. However, I would leave my watch on when I play 18 holes.

I think the question you should ask isn't whether golf will hurt your Rolex watch but why would you wear any watch to play golf?

Are you needing to time yourself between shots? Ranger telling you to "speed up play" so you want to see if you're playing slow?

Forget the watch and enjoy the game. Don't worry about what time it is. IT'S TIME TO PLAY GOLF!

Thanks guys for sharing your preferences. I have to ask because I've always have a watch on, and in the golf magazine, all of the pictures of the pros they all wearing their watches. I think I will find me a nice velvet pouch to put it in when I play golf.

I wear my GMT IIC to shooting range, I just enjoy the sport and not worried about the watch. They are rolex, they should be able to withstand the shock and vibration.

I don't wear mine because I don't want sunscreen getting all over my watch. Has nothing to do with swing weight or comfort for me.

Not for nothin' but I wear my Sub playing golf all the time, I've had my Daytona since November or so and my three trips to warmer clims since hen have meant only one instance of Daytona vs. the turf, and I'd be cool wearing it if I were hitting the ball square or taking divots, that really doesn't make a bit of difference IMHO

Don't play with one on because it is not comfortable for me. But I have hit thousands of balls with a watch on while teaching the game. No ill effects, but YMMV.

If you are wearing a Rolex sports watch it should be able to handle a round of golf. Am I correct, wasn't Arnold Palmer a spokesman for Rolex at one time!!!

He still is as is Nicklaus. And they also have a boatload of younger guys like Adam Scott, Luke Donald and Trever Immelman. They have ads all over the tournament this week.

I totally agree with you. I feel some people are out to impress chicks at the concession stand. Really, when playing some golf, I don't want any communication with the world, no cell, Blackberry or watch. When I'm home, life starts again as it always does.

Match play ?

If it's match play, when your opponent is putting, face the sun, and focus the reflection in his eyes. He has no chance of making the putt!!!
