Bond Submariner does not sell at Sotheby's

https://www.sothebys.com/buy/25e5416...bfc0?locale=en

I'm shocked, but also not surprised. No bids with an estimate of $180-280K. Is there fatigue for Rolexes worn by famous people?

I don’t think this actual watch was worn in the film. That’s not how I read the lot details. It’s alleged rarity is because of the tropical dial.

Maybe people are all Rolexed out these days. Or maybe, as many claim in the “are prices dropping” thread it’s the summer lull (which I don’t believe is a thing).

the market is the market and always will be. Unless I am missing something I don't see its Bond history apart from being in the same model line. Maybe someone will find value where I cant. I'll take a 5513 for a bit less and pretend I'm Bond.

I am not sure why anyone would want to buy that watch. It looks like it’s been through hell.
