Daytona 116500LN or 50th Anniversary 16610LV Sub

Hi all,

Need some help.

I have the opportunity to swap my black dial 116500 Daytona plus €2,500 for a 2004 F Serial Flat 4 50th Anniversary Sub with full box and papers.

What are people’s thoughts?

Obviously 2 completely different watches, the Dayton still in production (but good luck getting one at RRP) and the other obviously discontinued with the collectable Flat 4 bezel.

Decisions, decisions.......

Love the 50th Anniv Subs.

If that’s what you want - go for it.

Not a chance in hell! I've had the Kermit, great watch but it's no Daytona!

Do it - it’s a special watch.
I’m thinking of doing the same

Daytona is currently going for 22K-26K. Kermit currently 14-18K. If I traded my Daytona for the Kermit I would want 7-8K in cash. Best,DJ

Tough decision. If its an early F serial like an 0 or 1 which means its a 2003 I think I would do it. I'm debating where my next purchase dollars should go.
Wait for the white dial LN or go for an 03 Kermit.
Tough decision. Love both watches. Kermits are available now and the white Daytona is a big unknown when it will come my way. But Kermit is a much bigger outlay, I plan to only by the LN if and when my AD offers me one. Not going Gray.

A little single malt and being able to try on the LN would help. I'll just have to settle for the scotch.

If it's a MkI Kermit Y or F serial then no way they are currently 14-18k. With full set, good luck finding one under mid-$20k.

Pointed 4 later models sure you can find in that range.

I wouldn't do it and I own a flat 4... but a wearable one.

It sounds like you are paying BNIB pricing which means... you wear it, ding it up etc and you will knock off a lot of the value?

I stand corrected on the flat 4 price. Not sure I would want to pay that big premium for the font difference though.

Is the market really that high on the LV? Seems like a pretty huge price for this piece essentially when you do the math it's about 22-24k USD?

I would pass without hesitation.

I would take that deal in a New York minute if it’s a nice condition, legitimate flat four with correct numbers and paperwork. Unlike your Daytona, they’re not making any more 50th Anniversary sub Kermit flat fours. I’ve watched the price go steadily up, though that’s only a bonus as it’s been a solid piece in my collection. Your biggest question should be “which one do you personally like better?”.

Such different watches. I’d save for the LV and add.

As a watch I prefer the Daytona....but if you're looking to speculate.....I'd go for the lv.

Keep the Daytona, no way would I trade a 116500ln for a green bezel Submariner. Your be losing a obout 6-10k in value and gaining a less desirable watch.

This is exactly what I am thinking and although I love both watches I want a watch I can hand down one day that has appreciated and will continue to do so for a long time to come.

There was only a very small number of Flat 4’s produced that lasted just over a year so the rarity of these is significant compared to the 116500 Daytona.

A great condition (8+ out of 10) full set Flat 4 50th Anniversary subs are demanding big money these days. It would be hard to find one in great condition for under €20,000 these days.

So based an future value alone I’m leaning towards doing the deal as an opportunity like this may not come along again for such a great condition Flat 4.

Thank you for everyone’s opinions, some very good points made, it has made my decision a little easier.

Ultimately I would like to keep the Daytona and buy the LV but unfortunately the deal needs to be a swap as the other party wants a Daytona.

The positive I see regarding this deal is that I have a better chance at getting another Daytona and maybe even at RRP from one of my local AD’s I have built a relationship with but if not then there are plenty for sale on the grey market unlike a great condition, full set flat 4.

Thank you to everyone again, enjoy your day/night!

Is the Flat 4 really worth that much? I know what it's trading for so my question is rhetorical.

If you bought your Daytona at retail then it becomes more tempting.
