Not an incoming but rather a get in the car and drive to get it.

I don't normally post about a watch purchase but I know you guys like to hear about SS pickups since some models are just so hard to get these days.

I used to have a nice 114010 but wanted a BLNR more, especially because it had a date function also. I sold the Sub almost exactly a year ago today and ordered a BLNR from the dealer I use.

At the time it was a bout a 3 month wait so by October or November of 2018 I should have had one. Around then the supply started to dwindle since Rolex was obviously tooling up to release the updated BLNR with Jubilee at Basel 2019. To my dismay it meant another was probably not going to arrive and if it did, I was obviously bumped out of my place by the fat cats buying more watches and misc. pieces of jewelry. When the new, updated BLNR came out I was not bumped to the new list which would have been nice but the AD started a new list so maybe in 2 years I can get one.

Since I sold that 114010 to fund the BLNR that never happened, I decided to order a different watch. One with a date and one that is not as hard to get as the new BLNR so I had them bring me in a Sub Date.

3 month wait turned into 6 but that is no big deal. I received the call on the weekend so Tuesday I woke up at 4:30 AM, left the house by 6 am, drove 7 hours (normally an 8 hour drive if going the speed limit), grabbed my watch and then split. I was not tired so I just decided to do it all in one day and kept on going and made it back home in 6 1/2 hours so by 9:30 pm I was back at home with a new watch and a really quick road trip under my belt.

Here are a couple of quick pictures I took.

Thanks guys.

I was in such a rush to get in there and get back on the road I didn't even look at any of their other watches, plus I was illegally parked and was looking out the window for the ticket guy the whole 1/2 hour I was in there. I did try on the fellas personal BLNR which made me want one again. He had to buy it used from one of his customers and he said he could not even get one. I should have looked at that new, ugly Tudor dive watch, the P-01 but was not even thinking about that.

I was going to ask them about that Rolex book about the dive watches but forgot to ask them about it since I was in such a rush to get back on the highway and get going.

A 7 hour drive across the Canadian prairies is about as boring as it gets.

It was a long 7 hours each way.

No discounts either these days, like on the Explorers I bought. I new there would not be but figured I'd post that before anyone asks.

I usually get some kind of free Rolex trinket also, like a wallet or something but not this time around.

Times are tough!

I had my EXPII on and oddly enough did not even look at the Sub on the way home. I was more looking out for the RCMP on the way home so I could make good time. I did not want a speeding ticket but still went 25 kilometers above the posted speed limit.

First thing this morning after taking those pictures, I cracked open the coffin, peeled off the remaining stickers and sized it for my wrist.

Congrats! That's a lifetime keeper for sure. 7hrs drive! Is that your nearest AD? That's some distance.. by comparison there must be 6 or 7 AD's within two hours drive of my location (central Scotland) :)
