? Papers
Pardon my newness.
Somebody mentioned that in addition to a box coming with their new Rolex, there was also 'papers' included. I, too, recently purchased a new Rolex from an AD and got a box, but no 'papers'. Am I missing something? I did get the warranty 'credit card'. Thanks for any info. |

Paranoid in Baltimore
I didn't get any 'paper' warranty with my new Rolex pirchase. Also I mentioned in a post yesterday that I recently purchased a new rolex here in Baltimore with quite a few scratches
on the clasp of the bracelet. The AD polished 'most' of them out, but a few tiny ones remain. the consensue of TRF group replys seemed to be to live with the scratches as they woule inevetiably occur anyway. I was somewhat suprised by the response and expected to be advised to reutrn the watch for a new braclet, as I have seen advised in the group for a scratch in a crown, for example. My thinking on this is along the lines of the hypothetical of having purchased a pair of eye new eyeglasses, or anything for that matter, brand new, with a warranty, with scrtches. Surely, I would return it for a replacement, not a repair. I would think this would apply regarding a Rolex, a few more dollars than my eyeglasses. Now for the paranoid part. This scracth issue, (why would a brand new Rolex, especially from the factory, (it was special order, supposedly), be delivered with no paper warranty and scratches? Could I be being misled or ripped off by a AD? Does this happen? EVER?? Thanks. I gotta go. Got to get to the AD for my return?? And it' time for my thorazine!! |

First, Congratulations on your new toy!! You have every right to be paranoid. All of the new watches in US (from an AD) should come with inner & outer boxes, 2 hang tags (red & green), bezel protector, 2-3 booklets in a passport folder and either a green plastic warranty card or if its old stock, a paper certificate documenting the model #, serial #, dealer's name (on the older certificate the style code describes the model, bezel, dial and bracelet in a 14 digit #). You need this card or certificate. It is "provenance" to your piece being original and legit.
As far as scratches are concerned -- Unacceptable!! PS: Was it Smythe or J. Brown (my money is on J. Brown)? ![]() |

Hey train-time
It was J Brown. But, after going back with watch in tow, they did replace the bracelet in the store with one from the case, still wrapped in the plastic wrapping, to my satisfaction. Anyway, all's well, and I'm oh so happy!

Just out of curiosity, are all new Rolex watches from ADs now come with the credit card warranty card? Did they just start with the V serials or do some of the M serials come with it as well?

My 'M's have the plastic card.
As for the scratches - I agree that this is not good enough. I would have been inclined to return it and ask for a new brand new one. Could it be that the watch you received came from another AD where it might have been on display?
