UK Discount

Hi,
This is my first post and I am new, so please accept my apologies if this has been discussed before (I imagine that it must have been....).

My question relates to the discount one should expect to politely negotiate in an AD for a Rolex that they have in stock... I am particularily interested in the ceramic GMTII.

I looked less than a year ago when it was £3600, now its way above £4k, I am quite upset, whats the chances of negotiating down to £3600?

Regards,
Chris

PS I am assuming that it is impossible to buy a old style Seadweller NOS from any AD?

hi Chris

if you want a V reg seadweller, I have one for sale at £3750 BNIB Never worn.
i also have a gmt11 c at £3950 bnib unworn...

Prices of the watches keep on going up due to the stupid one eyed scotsman at number 10 DS.... you know who i mean... not controlling currency

I personally think you will be hard pushed to get a new one for 3600. the only other option is to buy from earnest jones with a discount, whch some forum members will inform you about. I can also help you with this
regards

uk discounts

hi mate
you will be very unlikely to get a discount of a uk ad on a gmt ceramic!
your best bet is to try someone like watchfinder.co.uk or watches.co.uk.
these seem to be the only people dicounting.
you may only save £100 to £200 of list though.
your other option is second hand which is proberly around the £3600 for a year to eighteen moth old watch.
good luck!

Well Marke has offered you a good deal on both watches you are after its doubtful if you could get the same deal from AD in the UK at present time.

Watches In the UK

I have a GMTIIC on an M serial, which although has been worn on and off is in good condition. A polish with a Cape Cod cloth would see it as new and I am selling for £3,550.00. Give me a shout on 07771 924754 if you are interested.

Mark.

Guys,
Thanks for the feedback, thats great. And unfortunately what I had expected to hear with regards AD discount.

Could anyone enlighten me on the Ernest Jones discount that Marke mentioned?

With regards the watchs offered, I am still weighing up my options (including a few other brands PAM and JLC) but will bare in mind.

Many thanks again,
Chris

I think you've got to buy some shares in the parent company to Ernest Jones, if you do this then you get a set discount off all items within their shops, as well as other companies under the parent companies umbrella, a lot of people do this to get 10% off, i think you have to buy a minimum of 10 shares, which doesn't cost a lot.

The parent company is called 'Signet', have a look online, with the 10 shares i think you get a signet discount card.

Disabilist and racist in one sentence. Good going - NOT.

Your assertion is simplistic. There is far more to price rises than "not controlling currency" such as interest rates, the strength of the Euro, the housing crash, trade deficits, purchasing parities and government borrowing.

Arguments about laissez faire -v- protectionism are probably not for this forum, much like your comments about Gordon Brown.

Just to add. The discount card does not come straight away on purchasing the shares. If you have a nominee account it is even harder to get the card promptly. You will get it eventually, but by the time you do, the prices may have gone up another 10%!!!

just be aware that those grey dealers will not be able to offer rolex warranty. they will have their own warranty setup.

I understood that the warranty on new watches is good for 2 years ( & transferable ) in the UK, no matter where it was purchased

Damm, wish I'd found this forum before I bought my GMT II C !!! And I bought from Ernest Jones - DOH !!!

At least I got in before they hiked the prices up, paid £4,050 for mine.
