Manual wind Chronograph recommendations

Gents,

Looking for my ideal Chronograph -

Requirements:

+manual wind
+40-42mm
+comes on factory bracelet
+hacking seconds
+less than 13mm thick case
+stainless steel
+modern construction (not looking for a vintage piece)

While I would love a 6263 Big Red Daytona - that is a little outta my range and also I am weary of these high stakes vintage pieces due to unscrupulous assemblage concerns.

Any options out there? Under 20k would be my budget.

The original Speedmaster ticks all the boxes except for hacking seconds.

Agree with everyone else so far - Speedy is the way to go.

Although if hacking seconds is a must, the Navitimer might work for you. Its 43mm, but I've heard it wears smaller.

Manual Wind Chrono on a bracelet? Aside from the Speedmaster on a few other vintage. watches, I can’t think of any manual wind chronos in that price range with a bracelet. I think you will need to look at some of the thinner in house integrated Chronograph movements. JLC, IWC, Vacheron, AP, Bulgari and quite a few others have really nice thin automatic chronos on a bracelet.

Not very many aside from the Speedy that fit your criteria.

New, everything nice is over 20k

I would echo everyone else and say Speedy but that exceeds your 13mm or less case thickness by 1.5mm.

How about something a bit left field.
Ulysse Nardin Berlin 1 or Berlin 2.
40mm 13.5mm Well under budget but mid 90’s.
Split Second chrono!

I’ve owned 3 speedmasters - modern hesalite moon, 60th anniversary, and 145.022-78 (still have). No hacking seconds here though...

I’ve had Daytona’s - 116500 white and a 116520 black dial. Autos though.

Also - a AP ROC 26331 auto again of course...and no hacking seconds for 24k+ !?!

A Heuer 1550 SG bund - flyback chrono and hacking, but no bracelet. This is a great value piece.

I love independent brands - but not many make great bracelets.

I know it is hard to meet the listed requirements...Keep em coming please!

Thank you for chiming in - I tend to be in agreement with you. That is why I reached out to the community to see if there was any stone left unturned.

I wish Valjoux was still around....sad to see the death of the manual wind Chrono in its many forms...I know there are some high end in-house pieces from ALS and Patek - on straps, but why no modern versions of a Valjoux 72 or the like on a bracelet...one of the most sought after pieces in the world - a 4 digit Daytona - and no one is trying to reimagine it? Oh well, the search goes on.

I recently came across the Farer hand-wound chronograph. While way under on pricing and pedigree, I find them very compelling and the watch heads seem to meet all of your criteria; the only omission is that the watch does not come with a bracelet, however for the price (1,950 USD) a good 20mm option could be sourced and still have many thousands of dollars spare. ;)

The Moritz is my pick of the bunch. The black/green scheme with the big blocks of solid Super Luminova gets my blood up each time I look at it! Plus that ‘big-eye’ minute counter...

Montblanc Heritage Pulsograph. Can be had arround 20k eur at grey market.

While the watch might be not be everyones taste y'all will adore this minerva movement. Finishing is on par with Patek and Lange and even more impressive from the architecture standpoint.

I have always thought this ML represented a modern interpretation of the classic Valjoux 72. Not sure if it's still in production or how much it costs...

There aren't many in SS any more, and you essentially described a Speedmaster Pro.

Almost, but no hacking seconds though. Have had 3 speedies over the years...looking for something new that meets all the reqs...
