Hello, From the UK!!

Hello guys,
Just a quick email to introduce myself, I am Chris from Devon, UK. I am looking to buy a "keeper" watch in the next couple of months so joined these forums to check out all things Rolex.

Already had some great advice and friendly feedback on the discount situation for Rolex in the UK (and a top tip on Ernest Jones).

My intention is to spend £3k (maybe up to £4k) on a watch, these are my current thoughts:

GMT IIC Perfect watch love the easylink bracelet, amazed by the price increases, would need to negotiate to get into price range
Submariner Classic, but price is still creeping a little high
Submariner No date Very Bond, but I am unsure of the hollow centre links
PAM111 love it, shame there isn't a bracelet option, having said that I have tried on the new bracelet and to is too big for my wrist
Omega Speedmaster love the history, considering the sapphire sandwich for robustness, find the bracelet with polished spacers a bit fussy though
Breiting Superocean Great bracelet, but find the bezel a little busy...

I have been checking out grey dealers (thebrandedwatchcompany.co.uk and deliciouswatches.co.uk), any advice or experiences would be welcomed.

Also, any tips for good discount in the UK too!
Best regards,
Chris

Hello Chris!!
Nice to have you aboard!
I wish you´ll enjoy so much sharing your "gusto" for Rolex watches here.
May I suggest that after the initial introduction you have made correctly in this sub forum, you may post your enquire in the general topics section, where a lot of TRF members will see it better.
Regarding your question, all brands and models you mentioned are top notch, and in my personal opinion, the choice is a very personal matter. I own all the brands you mention, and love them, some models like more than others, but all are beautiful and precise watches. I personally love Subs, and would be a bit biassed about them.
Good luck, and enjoy TRF!!
Kind regards, from Argentina, Abel

Here's my advice.

Get a Speedy Pro (3570.50 / 72 /73) and try to spend £1000 - £1500 respectively depending on age, condition and model.

Bask in the Speedy love for a while and then track down a 16610 for around the £2750-3000 mark.

That's £4,000 well spent and your money is safe in those two watches.

Thanks, you comments are gratefully received. This is going to cause me some sleepless nights I can tell... I agree that a Rolex does seem to be the best keeper that will suit every occasion!

Welshwatchman, I especially like your game plan!!

Thanks,
Chris

Hi Chris,

Welcome to TRF. Your post implies that you're looking at new watches. Have you considered a recent but pre-owned watch? This is the route that I went down after watching the prices increase and ADs still reluctant to discount. Maybe worth considering. I have had conversations with all of the reputable pre-owned Rolex dealers and if your willing to wait then you can usually get what you want, looking as new, but at a better price.

A1000, noted, this is looking like a good option, any recommendations? I normally keep an eye on watches.co.uk.

Chris
