Please talk me out of this craziness...
Please talk me out of this craziness. I am seriously considering paying an outrageous gray price for a GMT Batman.
It would complete my land, sea, air and space collection. Money is not an issue. But it’s hard to wrap my head around paying 150% of list or more for a watch. I could wait until an AD could get me one even if it took months or years. But I want one. Please talk me out of this craziness. Please. |

If money is not an issue, then go for it. I went gray market on my Batman. Happy I did as I had no interest in waiting.

To me....... is not really the money. Is the principal of paying a premium for a watch that keeps me from getting a Daytona from grey market. To me the “hunt” has a huge appeal......
Dont do it even if $$$$ is not an issue....... |

Buy it and enjoy! When/if AD calls, flip it and make your gray money back

If money is not an issue skip the Batman and buy gold. Stainless steel is quite boring.

The fact you posted this says you know it will always be a little devil of regret that you overpaid on your shoulder. If you are sure you can block that out an truly enjoy the watch then why not? But if it’s going to always bother you then the enjoyment of obtaining something you want will he gone.

If money is NOT an issue, and you're willing to keep it forever, then I say do it.
However, Nick brings up a great point: have you talked to all the ADs in your area and express your interest? You may get lucky and be able to snag one at MSRP. You may be fine paying over MSRP, but it could haunt you. |

If money is not an issue , I suggest talking to your ad about a bundle purchase. 2 watches are better than one for slightly less more.

What does principal have to do with it? MSRP is a social construct. Supply and demand is a more just determinate of price, IMO.

Economists are projecting a ~35% chance of recession in 2020. If you're not in a rush, why not wait until then? I have a feeling you could get a few grand off current prices...

Talk to all your local AD's never know what they may have. Also hit up all the resellers and make offers, try to negotiate, worst case is they refuse your offer. In the end I would spend the money on something I really wanted so buying on the secondary market doesn't bother me and even with the next recession, i f prices drop, they usually go back up.

I see it the other way around. He wants to hear that it's ok to do it. If money isn't an issue go ahead and buy it. You never know when or if you'll get the call for one so the time is now to enjoy one. And like somebody said already, if you do get the call, sell one of them and hope that the market hasn't tanked. |

Since money is no issue, you need to decide how bad you want it and whether you’re willing to overpay or wait.

I’d rolex increases prices by 50% tomorrow and your model is available at your AD, would you buy it?
You got my point. Life is short and of money isn’t an issue then I’d go for it!

Buy it, and if your AD gets you one at list, then sell the one you’ve bought now. You will most likely lose a little overall but not much.

I’d wait.
Looking at the sales listings, I can see that asking prices are coming down and the number of bumps are increasing. Also there’s lots of new sellers/flippers/chancers out there trying to make a quick buck. I honestly think prices will come down within the next year as the economy is softening. |

If money is not an issue, then just become a VIP at your local AD and get access to all the hard to get models. Just spend money on other models or jewelry and you will quickly become a preferred customer. Doesn't hurt to make them like you on a personal level as well.
Only people who should be going grey and paying massive premiums are those that really want a particular model and have little interest in getting anything else. EDIT: To make it simple for you, check out the catalogue and see if you like any of the precious metal models. Just go to an AD and talk a bit and mention you'd be interesting in bundling the two models together. Any AD that doesn't agree isn't worth the time. They make huge money on selling PM models and they aren't easy to move. Also, it gives you VIP status because you show you can spend that amount of cash at once. Next time a hot model comes out, you shouldn't have too much trouble getting high up on the list. |

I say wait for it. Grey prices still going down. Back in july batman was selling 17-18k and now you can find one for less than 15k. And even at 15k its not flying off the shelf so that means people are still waiting.
Im talking about 126710 price not the 116710 Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

"Money is not an issue"
But feeling that you got screwed is an issue regardless of how much $$ you have. Exert a little self control, and wait it out. Otherwise you will be haunted by what a sucker you were every time you put it on. |

I honestly believe that no piece is worth a premium. If you think it’s worth it then go for it.
