AD just offered me a Nautilus 5726A-001 ... need quick advice

Just got a call from my AD offering me a Nautilus 5726A-001 in stainless steel on a black crocodile strap. This was really unexpected and I am not really too familiar with the 5726A. Other than it just being a Nautilus there are key things I really don’t like about it, namely the unsightly day and month at 12 o’clock where “Geneva” should be and more importantly...the croc strap. I literally just got a croc strap AP ROC less than 48 hours ago (incoming pics in the AP forum), and I really don’t want a Nautilus with a croc strap. I asked the AD if I can order a stainless Nautilus bracelet for the 5726A and they said they believe it is possible and will “look into it.” Being the impatient guy that I am, I just called HSWA and asked the same question. HSWA said they will not sell replacement bracelets to allow an owner to go from a croc strap to bracelet. They acknowledged historically they used to sell bracelets for this purpose, but as of a few years ago Patek Geneva no longer allows it. So basically if I get this 5726A I’m stuck with the croc strap. Also looking at the secondary market, the croc strap Nautiluses seem to be the least desirable Nautilus so long term value may not hold as well as the bracelet versions. I am not in love with this Nautilus and other than it just being in the Nautilus collection of watches, nothing about it speaks to me and I wish it was available on the bracelet or that I could at least purchase a replacement stainless bracelet for it. Given all this, I’m considering passing on it. I asked the AD for a bit of time to decide and they asked me to let them know by Monday when they will goto the next person on their list.

I like it as much as my 5712/1A.

The fact that it is on strap instead of bracelet means it is a better daily watch. You won't have to worry about scratching the bracelet left and right.

It's a cool watch, but the rubber b straps do fit it , ,so you could mix it up a little

Doesn't sound like the watch for you from your initial "feedback."

As you don't like this one you should give it a pass. You already sold a bunch of watches lately that you had bought only weeks or months earlier...

IMHO the beauty of the Nautilus is lost if it is on any kind of strap. Nobody wants the bezel to get banged up but honestly I am not worried about scratching the bracelet.

So from your post:
- you don’t like the day / date
- you don’t like the strap
- nothing about it speaks to you
- you don’t love it
- you don’t think it will hold it’s value well

Seems like a no brainer to pass on it.

I would love the day/date feature on a 5726a. Hell i feel lost wearing my Daytona without the date.

It's a nice watch, but if it's not for you it's good you passed. Someone else's grail hopefully.

I've passed on the few in demand watched and my hope is always that it goes to someone who will love it more than me.

That’s a nice watch but I’m personally not a fan...at all...of rubber straps on the Nautilus. Unless Patek makes a “Nautilus Offshore” I would never consider a strap.

With a Nautilus, I don’t want fun, I want classic.

EASY PASS my friend. You have been on a buying binge lately and it seems the Naut is the piece you have coveted all along since you joined the forum based on many posts. I may get flamed for this but do not care... The Nautilus belongs on a bracelet end of story. I find it very funny how this watch was such a slow mover on leather and ADs now call clients up and make a big deal as if they are offering them a grail. Kindly tell the AD how much you love the brand and ask for an 11-12-26 on bracelet and let them know you are willing to wait. Tell them they can even hold the damn papers for a year (they wont) but it will let them know you are serious and wont flip. Congrats in advance buddy and stay patient for a piece on bracelet
