New Tudor GMT Broken Minute Hand

Hi all,

I recently purchased a Tudor GMT on steel bracelet for my brother in law. I actually spotted the watch in the AD’s window display.

During our journey back home, we noticed that the minutes hand had become loose where it free spins. There was absolutely no impact damage as it was in a travel pouch and on our person at all times (carry on). Has anyone ever seen this? I know about the common date window issue, but haven’t seen anything wrong with hands before. Poor guy hasn’t even worn it yet lol.

It’s currently at the Dallas RSC awaiting repairs. See video below demonstrating the issue.

Ouch. Hope it gets sorted out sooner rather than later at RSC. Good luck

I had a BB Chrono with a misaligned chrono minute hand. It was sorted by RSC Dallas in 4 weeks.

More people are complaining on watch forums and other platforms, not really a difference in QC issues.

Does the hand free fall when the crown is not hacked? Just curious.

On the QC issues with this watch... Mine had QC issues. I noticed a chunk of metal on the rehaut. Sent it in for warranty work and it was about a 4-6 week turnaround. Two of my buddies also bought the GMT and both had the date window issue.

Yes, free spins regardless of crown position.

That sucks. At least you are relatively close to the RSC in Big-D.

Hope it works out well for you.

That is their new "Gravity Orientation Pointer" complication.

Hey it's more useful than the "moonphase," right?

Every manufacturer of every mechanical device has dealt with similar issues, INCLUDING Rolex.

To read from some of these delicate flowers (and I ain’t talking about the watches) I wonder if they own a car or washing machine? I've heard some brands even have service centers.

To the OP, sorry to hear of your issue and hope it's back on your wrist soon.

It is one in a million... I would ask them to replace Dial as well just n case there are micro-scratches from the hand

at least you don't have to worry about a wheel falling off your Black Series...

This is a feature that allows for quick setting. Similar to the speed holes on my car.

SMH this is why I won't pull the trigger on this model. One too many QC issues.

I'll bite.

Of course I own a car. When it needs maintenance or has a recall, I send it in. But such recalls/maintenance/repairs are unsurprising, because that's the industry standard.

The Tudor GMT problems do not reflect an industry standard. They don't even reflect a Tudor standard, whose watchmakers and designers otherwise maintain a pretty solid reputation.

Rolex and Tudor QC is the the same as it was. Personal experience the last 30 years of owning different Rolexes . The last 5 to 10 years poor QC in my opinion. Tudor never owned one only seen a lot of bitching on the forums on the new models picking up.

Sorry that you had an issue and the Service Center will sort it out. A lot of members here are quick to call out issues with watches and paint a whole product line with negativity. Some of it maybe justified but, as a whole, it is not. I would assume that Tudor sells hundreds of thousands of watches a year and we hear from a small percentage about issues. Then others jump on board and make broad statements. Those members typically are new to the Forum and most of the time they don't hang around long enough to learn. Not a slam to new members, as I was once one also, but the strong comments and opinions without a lot of experience or first hand knowledge lends no weight to opinions. Tudor makes a great watch for the price point and I currently own five of them and have had no issues with quality control. I also own the GMT and it is great and I have had no issues. Just my thoughts.

New members does not necessarily mean uninformed. Myself new here, but I have real life experiences with watches and Ive read about them for the last 30 years. Im sure this is true for a lot of new members. Never judge a book by it 's cover !

Rolex has plenty of QC issues same as Tudor. It’s pretty disappointing.

^^^ This ^^^.

Sorry, Dan - I know you love your Tudor (as I love mine) but the above is true.

Hoping for the best moving forward as I did buy the watch knowing all this.

Let’s hope the wheels stay on!

Good point on the dial! I just phoned them to let them know. The watchmaker didn’t mention anything on it, but I requested to have them double check the dial when they replace all the hands.

Should be done end of next week! I’ll keep everyone posted.
