Warranty Card

Hi all, looking to buy a Daytona through Chrono 24. Watch is new and has booklets, hangtags, but no warranty card. Is that a big deal to not have a warranty card even though the watch is listed as new/unworn?

I’d say it’s a big deal.

Welcome aboard. It is if the warranty is still valid. What’s seller telling you?

Buying used (nothing "new" on Chrono 24) without a warranty card equals no warranty.

Beyond that, it's your choice.

Warranty Card

Hi, looking to purchase a new Daytona on grey market. The watch is listed as new/unworn has paperwork, box, but no warranty card. Should I be concerned if there is no warranty card?

Who’s the seller? That’s the question that you need to ask.

I personally would not purchase a new Daytona without a matching warranty card. Box and manuals are easily obtainable.

When buying from most all grey dealers there will be no Rolex own valid warranty,as most greys will have there own warranty. The Rolex warranty card to be valid must be bought from and stamped by said official Rolex AD where it was sourced from.

I wouldn't even think about it even if it was discounted accordingly. Not saying there is anything wrong or fishy but there are too many out there not to have a perfect set.

I got my two Rolex from different greys and got the warranty card for both. Funny, one card was stamped from a AD from Spain with my name and the other was from Poland with open name.. And both came from greys full set.

No card for a new watch equals no sale for me. Since you’re in Texas, check Takuya Watches or check here in the classified for his listings and buy with confidence. Welcome to TRF.

Yep. If you go grey ask a lot of questions and try to get a full set. You'll regret it later if you have to sell...and life's circumstances can be unpredictable that way.

I agree with the other posters here...too important a purchase to not get the full set or at least the warranty card.

Well I would say why would you buy a brand new watch at gray market top dollar prices and have no warranty??
What if the watch needs a service for whatever reason don’t think you will be getting it under warranty without a card.

General question. On the card with no name let’s say it was never swiped by the AD is there a warranty??
Can an AD swipe the card without a name and be in compliance with Rolex rules??

Why get one without a warranty. If its defective you get stuck paying for an expensive repair. Nothing "new" about a used watch with no warranty.

They are instructed to write a name on it, any name, or XXXXXX if for whatever reason the customer doesn't want a name on it. They can still swipe it blank though and Rolex would probably never know.

As far as I know when the grey orders from the AD the AD swipes the warranty card before sending to the grey. I think the one with my name on it was written by the grey I purchased it from. The second one the grey left it blank and I could write my name if I want to. But as far as I know the original AD swipes before shipping to grey..

An AD who I dealt with in the UK, as a first time customer for them, held onto the warranty card for six months on an SS sports model I bought.

I assume that was to deter flippers.

I’d say the warranty card being missing would be a deal breaker for me.

You’re either going to want the card, or a repair certificate from Rolex. I’d pass on box and manuals if the card was there, but those don’t mean much without the card...

I would stay away from that. Unless you have some kind of guarantee that you will later receive the warranty card. The warranty card could still be held by the AD, some ADs to hold-on to the warranty card for up to a year before releasing it to the buyer. Good luck.

If you share the seller name someone here may be able to comment on them. Buy the seller first!
