SD43 Sea Dweller 126600

Hi. Relatively new here and an Omega Seamaster owner for 16 years. Just turned 40 and would like to finally do the Rolex. I have settled on the Sea Dweller. I have left my name with about 5 ADs. I will not pay more than MSRP simply because it’s a luxury item and I don’t need it. Any particular ADs I should reach out to?

I think you've done the right thing, just sit back and wait.
Going into a dealer with the focus on one particular watch is the best way of getting what you want even with no prior purchase history.
An AD can spot a flipper a mile off , going into an AD and asking for a Daytona , Pepsi , Batman and a Skydweller ect will just get you laughed at and your name and number thrown in the trash

I think what you have done so far is great. Only recommendation is to periodically drop in to each of these AD’s in person and make conversation with your sales associate. Talk watches so they get to know you and your interest in watches as a collector. Good luck.

SD43 is one of the ‘easier’ hard-to-get SS references from AD.

As said above, I would follow up every now and then (not stalk) with the ADs you’ve left your name at and just try your luck when you travel at airports.

I saw an SD43 in Singapore at an AD 3 months ago and one at the airport in Doha, so it’s not as crazy as the Daytona, Pepsi and Batman...

You should be able to get this one with a little patience. It’s one of the best but it’s not super hot with the flipping community.

Not big on the tungsten gas escape valve. Like the cleaner look of the DSSD better...

Welcome to the forum. The SD43 is very popular and you are being realistic realizing that you will probably be waiting for a spell...then again you may get lucky and get the “the call” sooner than later. Good Luck!

The market seems to be flooded with these, priced closed to MSRP+Tax. IMO you'll find one very quickly.

Fantastic choice. Mine as well

As has been mentioned above, I think you won't be waiting too long. Its not a very 'hot' watch like GMT/Daytona. Just sit back, relax, and enjoy your seamaster until the SD43 comes calling!

Go in-person to the AD's if possible, and "check-in" every couple months so they know you are serious. Do not do things by email - physically visit these locations. If you do that I bet you will not have to wait more than 2-3 months, maybe sooner if you are lucky.

I would pick one up here on TRF and screw the wait. By time you negotiate with a seller you will probably get the same price or less from AD once tax is figured in. Just my 2 cents

With good relationship you should able to receive SD43 within a month.
I got mine from AD within 3 weeks.

Lot's of good advice here, go in often say hello and inquire if they have the watch. Keep us posted on how it goes.

I visited my local AD and voiced my interest in the SD43. I had zero purchase history so I was not confident I would ever get the watch. I got impatient and purchased from a well known gray on the site. The AD called me one month later and told me the SD43 had arrived and was ready for me. I had to pass obviously. I ended up paying 1k over MSRP and tax from the gray dealer. Im still happy to have my watch and completely happy with the gray dealer.

Any AD recommendations?

Of course, my Omega just quit running.

Off to service but who knows for how long...

A bare wrist sucks!

I am on a few lists, but no luck yet!

The waiting time is part of the experience and the pleasure of ownership, so make of that wait your friend. Meanwhile enjoy every review and picture of your SD. Be prepared to be blown away when it finally becomes part of your wrist.
Here’s a shot of my 5 days old bad-boy, hope it will make the wait a bit easier on you ;-)
