Time for something to go
I try apply rigid policy of when something comes in, something needs to leave the collection. Mainly because I only have a 8 piece watch winder.....so I have a 5711R arriving which is GBP 33 500 and either if the following two needs to.make space:
A) 5930 at the same purchase price B) 5975 cost me GBP 39000 Both have a chrono function which is not a complication that particularly attracts me. I am more a WT collector. So the 5930 would in theory have the upper hand but the 5975 is such a nice "wart". And living proof that LE doesnt mean u can make bucks. I have been.offered $50 000 for each of them. What do you all think? |

I prefer the whimsical 5975 between the two. I also think long term its the better hold. Beautiful if not particularly functional.

To me 5975 is the more interesting piece, 5930s are in every window in Bond St.

I have a soft spot for the 5975. Any chrono that doesn’t measure seconds or minutes in the conventional sense gets my vote as a superb discussion piece.

Aesthetically, I prefer the WT. The 5975 looks a bit of a hot mess if you know what I mean. A pleasing hot mess but a hot mess nevertheless.

You buy a FPJ, Voutil, UJ, LF et al for the romanticism of having an independent and in some cases the ability to have an input into the watch design itself. It's not for the faint hearted and certainly not for the average Patek owner who is.more concerned about value retention from Day 1....you lose your pants for the privilege and the loss on.investment is generally eye watering ...but its fun
