38mm ROC vs 15450
Anyone have side by side shots specifically of the dial/bezel? I know the bracelets are pretty much the same but I want to see how much bulkier/bigger the new chronos look compared to the 15450.

Tried the 38mm panda chrono at the AD yesterday and sized it against the 15450 I was wearing. On my 6.5" wrist, the chrono fit perfectly. It felt only marginally larger and well within my comfort zone. In comparison, the 15500 was way too big. Clearly the chrono was very close, size wise, to the 15450. I don't have side by sides but for what it's worth, I'll post them both on-wrist. To me, they're nearly the same, though the chrono dial grabs more attention and may make it seem like it's got more presence on the wrist.

Personally prefer the 15450. The chrono pushers make it all a bit too much for me. And the Royal Oak is the only watch that I prefer a plain dial on, which I can’t explain.
But I’m probably in the minority. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Panda looks great, and visually is the more interesting of the two. But I don't know if my OCD would allow me to accept that off-center date window.

So here you go. Slightly larger. More depth. Less elegant, more visual interest.

Chrono for jeans and fleece. Depending on your use, that may mean more wrist time.

Case size wise they are very similar and you won’t notice much of a difference other than the chrono being “busier”. The chrono is about 1mm thicker though.
I think the real decision here is do you want a chrono because the main difference i see is the $8k difference in retail price |

I noticed that even a tiny bit of camera angle, say 2-4 degrees, changes the apparent size. Also noted that folded or unfolded, both watches sit at a slightly different height which may not be apparent when viewed from above. I don't have calipers but I'll throw some photos up later and grab a tape measure. The ROC when held up to the RO is only slightly, but definitely larger. With a case 9.8mm thick vs 11mm, the 15450 feels smaller too. The ROC dial sits deeper in the case making the bezel seem thicker. I'll need to measure the bezels when I get back home. One thing I'll note. The 15450 has a silky beautifully smooth bracelet that I barely notice. The new ROC's bracelet is rather uncomfortable, which on closer inspection, is due to the very sharp metal edges of all the facets. Sliding ever so slightly up or down the wrist you feel prickly and I found myself rubbing or scratching those areas. Rub your finger over the clasp edges and link edges and you'll be amazed at how sharp and precise an angle they're cut at. My 6.5" wrist is considered relatively small and still, only one link needed to be removed out of the box. I may put that link back and see if the comfort goes up.

The 38 ROC looks awesome. Really want one now that I've sold my 15450.
Hope they add a couple more dial configurations in next year.

thank you, very helpful. Can you compare the 2 dials 15450 and the chrono. The 15450 I have seen few times and it's truly stunning and for sure silver rather than blue, but not sure about the the chrono if it's exactly the same dial as the 15450? or more white than silver?

Dials are indeed the same color. If I looked at it long enough I almost suspect one was a different shade but ah.. not really. Both are silver. The AP website notes the new 26315 chrono had its tapisserie dial altered slightly to improve legibility. Not sure what that means but from even a close look, the size and spacing between grooves in the tapisserie appear the same. Here's as close as my cellphone will photograph.
As far as size of dial, it appears they are identical though the 315 Chrono's blue register at the periphery makes the white circular dial appear slightly smaller. Similarly, the 450's silver dial blends into the silver case making it appear less confined and, as a result, larger. With tape measure in hand, I found the crystal of the 315 is actually 1mm greater in diameter confirming this.

If they made it in a solid dial, not much of a panda fan.

Correction: While looking at first glance to be smaller, the ROC 16315's dial appears to be 1mm larger in diameter, not identical as I first noted.

Thank you, very detailed and helpful indeed. I already have the 15500st so looking for another AP. So far the Panda seems best option. Re daily wear, yes I am in suit everyday but regardless I try to hide my watch under my shirts sleeve, so matching outfit and watches not really important to me. |

With a smaller wrist, you can also consider the older 39mm ROCs. I personally love the size and balance. The date window is also centered if that bothers you on the 38mm models. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Feel like this is a Daytona killer. At maybe $5-6K more in grey market I would much rather have this

Does the chrono feel more "substantial" on the wrist? In terms of heft and due to the thicker profile?
