Hitting the bourbon trail
My buddy TudorTommy and I are hitting the bourbon trail towards the end of December. We'll probably settle into a hotel in Louisville and do day trips. Already have a plan laid out, but would appreciate any feedback from people who have been to the distilleries in the area. And, of course, there is always time for a TRF GTG.

I went during the Bourbon festival as part of a friends 40th birthday party. We hit up 6 distilleries in 2 days, and not really a bourbon drinker still had alot of fun, although as part of the tour they provide the same history/speil (i.e. "mash bill", 51% corn, brand new oak barrels, etc).
Went to the following: -Buffalo Trace -Woodford Reserve -Wild Turkey -Jim Beam -Willett -Makers Mark Hands down the best overall (interactive) tour was Jim Beam. Get to lick the "white dog" from the still, and single barrel Knob Creek from an open barrell...for the same price in the gift shop you can participate in the Knob Creek bottling process of your own KC bottle, fingerprint the wax seal and also have optional laser engraving. Second would be Woodford...that place is just the most refined and up scale, and a great tasting room experience. I also really enjoyed Buffalo Trace because its so expansive and take you through their Blanton bottling line. I posted some pics in the whiskey thread here: https://www.rolexforums.com/showpost...&postcount=979 Where ever you end up, it'll be great. More pics: |

Very cool!!! Thanks. Planning on hitting all of those except Jim Bean. May hit it depending on time. Also going to spend some time in Nashville and hit Jack Daniels on the way home.

You'll love it - hope the weather works out! Most are in Bardstown which is about a 20-30 minute drive from Louisville - well worth it though!Check out the Rickhouse in Bardstown!
