Would you buy a 39mm 570?
Couldn’t help but gaze at this drawing on the last page of the most recent Patek magazine. Would you buy a 39 mm rendition in WG? SS would be a treat but I almost think it would be a negative because more people would snap them up to flip.

If that watch didn’t say Patek Philippe on the dial would you be interested? That’s my way of saying no I wouldn’t buy it.

Me too

Fair enough Oooh Suppose that would be nice but unlikely to debut in Pt Interestingly enough I think more than most Pateks yes. Not a damn soul would be wearing the retro 70s nautilus if they were made by VC let alone a nobody brand. The Calatrava is pretty classical and with a modern size, no date, and a new movement it could be quite nice. imho

I like the 5227R with the officers case back. That’s the Calatrava I’d buy and wear with jeans and a polo. A silly millimeter bigger. (Apologies to Benson & Hedges)

I don't think I'd get a 39mm 570. Far too big for a basic Calatrava and too much empty dial space IMO. Basic dress watches often look a little cartoonish and also boring when oversized to just follow the trend. I thought about getting a 35mm 570 years ago when unconvinced by the 5196 and 5296, but went 34mm 3998P in the end. That one is as small as I can imagine but I continue to like it.

The 570 was not made in a 39mm case. So if you are offered on I would not buy it. The 570 was 36mm (35.5mm) case.
If you are wanting a larger Calatrava look at the 2481. It is 37mm. |

I'd prefer 39 to anything smaller.

I wouldn’t buy this particular reference because I already own a Calatrava. But I do think that 38-40mm is the sweet spot for most watches. So thumbs up for the 39mm.

I know that haha im suggesting maybe Patek is hinting at bringing back this aesthetic with a new calatrava line which is coming. It’s the last page in the recent issue of Patek magazine. I’m just dreaming

Regarding the OP's question, yes I would consider a 39mm 570, I think that would be very nice, although for time-only I would probably like small sub-seconds even more. |
