The Vintage Rolex Field Guide

Hi all, just wanted to pass along my experience with this book, which was recently published. I just received it yesterday and noticed several inaccuracies ran the references tables right away which didn't give me confidence in the accuracy of the remaining content. Thought I'd share in case others were thinking of purchasing.

For example:
1. GMT 16710 and Explorer II 16570 both list the years for the 3186 caliber as 1989-2007
2. The Air King 114200 is listed as 40mm, I believe it should b 34mm
3. 114060 omits "cerachrome" under the bezel info, when the 116610LN and other six digit references lists cerachrome.

I was hoping this wouldn't be the case- I really wanted to get a copy. Thanks for sharing.

I really wish this forum had a literature section

That would be cool

Like a sub forum to discuss watch related books or magazines

And sell and trade as well

thanks for this, was looking to buy as well (saw it linked in a Gear Patrol article which brought it back to front of mind).

Also count me as a +1 for watch literature/trading sub. I love to go through any literature I can get my hands on (books, Hodinkee mag, whatever), but rarely do I find them worth keeping and I end up trying to resell on eBay. Would much rather just trade with another watch lover.

I didn't see a follow-up in the books section- anyone care to follow up here?

Are the inaccuracies limited to the ones above or is it generally an accurate book? Would those who've done substantial vintage collecting recommend it or another book instead..?
