18039 Bezel Question

I'm looking at a 18039 white gold silver dial with a smooth bezel. It's from a reputable dealer in which I have a lot of trust. It was a trade from a regular customer and dates circa 1982.

I'm not finding much information on that model having a smooth bezel. Am I missing something? Did they come with smooth bezels under that model number during that time frame?

Yes, for some reason it doesn't smell right. It would look too much like the platinum model with the president bracelet.

I've seen some smooth bezels with the oyster bracelet, but never with that reference number. I'm wondering if they have a frankenwatch.
