Bracelets without Safety Clasp Coming Undone
Do bracelets without the safety clasp ever come undone on their own? I've never owned a watch without one but am looking at a 126234 DJ which doesn't have a safety clasp on either Oyster or Jubilee. I'm sure it doesn't but I thought I'd ask. Thanks!

I own two modern models with the pull clasp. Neither has come loose on their own in any environment I've worn them in.

Not really. I had a DJ2 and played hard with my two small children in the pool without ever the clasp popping open. It can happen and we occasionally have seen reports in hard surf conditions that the clasp came open against their surfboard but how often is that really a factor?? I believe there was another report of a massive jetski wipeout where the clasp came open but........

I have a new DJ41 on Jubilee. The clasp is very secure and solid, BUT one morning I was running out to the car and was pulling my suit jacket on as I did, I didn’t notice but my watch slipped down over my wrist and nearly slipped off (onto my drive.....), as I pushed my arm down the jacket sleeve it caught the clasp and it came undone. So lesson learned! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

It can be adjusted if it does come loose. My wife's Oyster Perpetual popped loose the day after she bought it, fell right off her wrist. AD said they couldn't adjust it to fit any better. After some research, I reformed (bent) the butterfly clasps to suit the curvature of her wrist and apply the proper tension to the clasp, and it has been rock solid for 3 months of very hard cringe inducing daily use as an LEO. If it can stay on her wrist all day, it can stay on yours.
This guide helped me. https://www.everestbands.com/blogs/b...ng-it-feel-new |

All I can add. Years ago I had a 16610 fully closed wearing in a lake throwing a football around. I dove to catch the ball leaping up and then going under the water. I came up to my amazement the safety clasp was on undone and the clasp! The watch was only a few months old.

Ever? Yes. I don’t think it’s common, but as you see by the replies, it certainly happens. Hence the reason for the safety clasp

Never on my 1680 Sub. That included many hours undersea diving in Red Sea and Persian Gulf.
