Perfect second Rolex ?

Hello TRF,
I'm currently thinking of purchasing a second watch to pair with the Black Face Rolex Explorer II 216570. I initially was thinking Airking/YM but I am leaning towards a Ceramic Bezel. I love all the watches mentioned so attempting to weigh pros and cons. I'm feeling the Submariner, Sub W/ Date, Yacht Master (Blue Face, Red Second Hand), Coke, or All black GMT. Any advice would be greatly appreciated and of course show those beauties off!
Thanks

My recommendation will be a Datejust41. Great for formal or informal occasions. If not DJ41, then YM 40mm.

The Explore II can do what any SubC and GMT IIc can - IMHO.

DJ41 is a great rec

Go white or blue so it differs from your Explorer.

Since you already have a splash of orange, I won't recommend the Milgauss. The Explorer 2 is casual and fun. I would go YM with blue dial to give you something elegant. The PCL's and blue face will be a perfect complement.

One exercise that might work as well, is to make a list of the watches that you like the most that aren't in your collection. Once you have put them in order, choose the one closest to the top of your list that complements your collection. This will ensure that you are prioritising the watches you like the most, but also taking into consideration diversifying your collection.

Good luck.

You are right to focus on something with a Cerachrom bezel — any will make a great addition to the brushed steel on the 216570. If you use the GMT function a lot, then look at a 126710. Otherwise a simple Sub 114060 would be a nice balance and change from the busier 216570.

Good luck!

Would recommend a TT bluesy for a little bling.

A black sub is good as well.

The Sub and / or sub date is a good choice, and I like your other choice, the black dial, black bezel 116710. The 116710 is good buy as pre owned GMT. The watch has the maxi case design so looks like the current sub. Price is definitely lower than 116710 BLNR.

I spent the last couple years trying to find the ideal companion for my do-anything Explorer II. After lots of trial and error, finally found it!

I will also recommend a DJ41. A dressy piece that can be worn every day. Balances out the tool aspect of Explorer II.

DateJust or Sky Dweller, most other sports will look the same as your EXP II since it has a black DIAL.

Lots of options. If you're going to stay 'tool-y,' then I'd go SD43.

Dress it up? Then the DJ or something similar. By the way, the Milguass/Sky-D pictures above look great.

I have two black dial Rolexes and given my experience I’d nudge you towards a different dial color. I love my watches but having some dial variety would be nice, a problem getting fixed hopefully soon. If you’re good with the YM’s platinum bezel, not ceramic, that would be my first choice. Second a DJ41 blue or rhodium. Of course I’d recommend either of mine if another black dial is cool with you.

I'm in the same boat as you OP, I would personally lean towards the Sub Hulk to mix things up with the different bezel material and that beautiful green dial.
