Hello all - cheers to so many of you who have been helpful, insightful, and all around resourceful in knowledge over the last couple of years. I’m also thankful to those who have shared their incoming stories and what it took to get there for the harder models - all I greatly appreciated!

I deal with an out of state AD where I vacation at least twice a year, and started out by getting to know them with stopping in and buying straps and a clasp for my no-longer-in-possession Panerai that I bought as my first watch, used.

Since then over the last 6 years, I’ve bought an IWC Portugueser 7-day, my Batman (at a discount in 2017!), my wife’s OP 31, and they helped me acquire a Sub no date for my buddy who was quoted 6-12 months from local ADs. I formed a great relationship with my SA who ultimately retired, and suggested I work with another SA which I started doing so 1.5 years ago. I started heavily inquiring about a white face Daytona at about that same time, fully acknowledging how I knew they get asked incessantly and I’m one of a million. I also know based on their location and brand inventory, I am small potatoes.

In an awesome show of professionalism and creativity, on Dec 22nd the SA sent my wife (whom the SA had met) a message through FB asking her to call into the store when she had a moment. Perplexed by this, my wife TOTALLY DROPPED THE BALL and asked if she had any idea why the SA would reach out to her. My heart went into over drive and I suspected I knew the awesome outcome. My wife called in, mentioned she dropped the ball, and handed the phone over to me - the SA and I had a good laugh, and mentioned that they got one white face Daytona in their Christmas shipment, and had been given permission from the manager to send it my way - it could be there in time for Xmas.

Too bad for me, we were leaving the next day for a 12 day trip and wouldn’t be returning until tonight! No worries - I’ll just have to wait. :)

IT ARRIVES TOMORROW, AND I CANNOT FRIGGING WAIT. Pics to come (or it didn’t happen, right?)

All this to say - thanks to owners for sharing their stories, thanks to the Forum for sharing the love. If you’re looking - keep putting in the work!

Also - just me, or did I see a LOT of heavy hitting incomings (especially Daytona’s) the last couple of weeks?

That's a great story and awesome to hear you were able to get your hands on (even if you have to wait til tomorrow) that Daytona...tomorrow's going to be a special day, enjoy it and congratulations!
