Playa Del Carmen AD’s - Suggestions

Going to be in Playa del Carmen in Mexico next week for a holiday from the UK and was gonna visit a couple of the AD’s there. Anyone local or been down that way recently that can comment on availability or recommendations of dealers and sales contacts?

Cheers
Dan

I have a sales contact but if you’re looking for the coveted pieces I’m sorry but there’s nothing!

Its always fun to browse shops around the world but I doubt many hard to get Rolex models are purchased this way. Building that relationship with a local AD seems to work best.

Was there last August. Stock was same as ADs everywhere, a few YMs, ladies datejusts, and otherwise empty cases.

Had a fun time talking with the reps though.

Goodluck and have fun!

I just returned from Cancun, just up the road from Playa. Visited one Rolex AD while out shopping one day. You won’t find a steel sports model. Your time is better spent on the beach or in the pool. Have fun!!

If I was an AD in a tourist market, and I sold my few high demand pieces to a tourist, who would buy the rest of my inventory? If I was in that position I would need a good client who can buy multiple pieces, someone with first name Gray, last name Dealer. Sell in lots to move all of the inventory.

Checked out the AD on the strip last week. Nothing in stock except a couple of TT DJ’s and some women watches.

Was there in early December and picked up my rootbeer in the Cancun AD. Really nice SA.

No AD in their right mind would prioritize a tourist over a local.

I visited the Cancun AD last time I was there in 2018. I enquired about a SS Daytona, mainly to see their reaction, they had one and would let me have it if I purchased another full gold Rolex.

In my experience, this is not true. The reason is I suspect the SA’s are on commission so if a SA can sell a piece to a customer instead of his/her colleague, then that SA gets the commission. I speak from experience whilst on holiday, but all AD’s are different.

Why not look and inquire. What do you have to lose and you just may get lucky and find something. We read about our fellow members getting watches all the time when there was suppose to be none. Either way, have fun.

Hi. Was in Cozumel in November which is the same Ultra Jewels chain. I walked away with a stainless sub. They wanted me to buy something else though with it so I bought my wife a bracelet.

Was just there this past week and visited both of their locations. They had lots of DJs, mostly TT and claimed they did not have any sports models available at all. I even pitched that I would be willing to purchase another timepiece if a stainless sports model was made available. No Dice!

Hope springs eternal I guess but there is no magic Rolex dealer anywhere in the world that miraculously has all models in stock just waiting for a buyer.

I got a SA at the local AD there that routinely sends bundle options if you want to get a SS watch, typically paired with a PM or a less popular TT.

The Ultrajewel location in Cabo currently has several 41mm OP (black dial and silver dial), TT YM and Skydweller. May also have a Deep Sea there. I have a very helpful SA that sends me his currently inventory.

I was able to purchase a Wimbedon Dial Datejust with Fluted Bezel but by calling ahead and they set it aside for me

Your best bet is to go Ultra Jewels (AD).

I can imagine every muscle clad dude heading there either wears or wants to wear a Rolex sports watch.

Beautiful place been there many times! There’s a little island you can travel to just off of the mainland forget the name. Well worth a day trip you can drive round the whole place in a day. Careful with cards though I had one of my cards cleaned out completely when Renting a car.
