TT Sub new or preowned?

Good evening,

I'm considering adding a TT black sub. From a value standpoint and considering the price increase, am I better off going BNIB or a 2017-2018 model with full set?

Thank you in advance.

Depends on your budget. Nothing wrong with saving a couple grand and getting a preowned in excellent condition. Look in the for sale forum. There are a few offered from trusted TRF dealers.

I'd personally always go pre-owned to save any meaningful amount of money. If it's in great shape and saves you more than a service (and is from a reputable seller) then to me it's a no-brainer.

It's easy to forget these days when the resale market on some watches is so much above MSRP, but in the majority of cases a watch devalues meaningfully the moment you take it out of the store. On any piece where that's still true, it's worth at least checking out the used options.

If you will wear it actively, then you might as well go pre-loved and avoid the premium. Dont see a reason to pay a premium for a BNIB, unless its heading for the safe (which would be a shame). But thats easier said that done

If you can find a used watch in good shape that is what you are looking for, it makes sense to me to go that route and save some money if the difference is significant.

It looks like the difference will be about $2000 if I'm reading the tea leaves correctly.

The glide lock bracelet would sway me to new(ish), but slightly used are close to new prices anyway.

By the way, excellent choice! I wore my TT black dial sub daily for 18 years. Perfect all around sport watch that goes from a suit to jeans perfectly.

Aren't these well before retail on the used market. Buying used makes a lot of sense to me.

Can't argue with saving a few $ on buying preowned. Make sure you buy from a reputable seller.

I'd go for the Bnib on that one for 2k more. In your name, no service worries, no wear, no polishing (especially on gold), no authenticity worries, no seller worries. Many more pluses to go new for me.
