Icon5 Frédérique Constant Tourbillon Open Work

Looking for feedback on this model or in general about first hand ownership of the brand and any issues of owning a tourbillon?

One of the only holes I have in my collection is a proper dress watch. This isn’t going to get worn a lot so not wanting to invest Patek money.

As it happens, I have a relationship with an AD who carries Frédérique Constant. FC offered a very limited production of 30 pieces in an open work, rose gold perpetual calendar. Of the 30 produced, 2 were sent to the USA.

MSRP is $35k but I can purchase it at a decent discount.

I know a little about the brand. It was a husband and wife team that wished to create a moderate price point dress watch in 1988.

Along the way in 2001, FC began the development of its first watch movement in cooperation with the École d'Horlogerie de Genève, École d'Ingenieurs de Genève and the Horloge Vakschool Zadkine. In 2008, they came out with their tourbillon movement.

This is the watch.

Appreciate your thoughts.

Another possible option, the AD has this open heart model in RG. It is 1/3 the price of the tourbillon however is a very attractive model in my opinion as well.

Lastly, this model is also available in SS.

I don’t know a lot about FC but their brand does look nice and it appears like there is some serious value in their pieces. Correct me if I’m wrong, but doesn’t the FC tourbillon sell for 25k canadian?

It seems they make a very nice watch but arguably don’t have much experience with them.

I’m not sure which tourbillon FC model you are referring too so not sure? The one I’m posting about is a limited production piece to 30 and list is $46k Canadian or $35k USD but can be purchased for under MSRP.

FC offer some good value in the swiss watch market. Where else can you get in-house calibre with complications for anywhere near what FC charge?

Citizen now own FC and they're still making some great peices but would you want that much money in an FC? even if it is an in-house tourbillion? I'd choose an FC tourbillion over a Tag every day of the week, but the price would still scare me.
