Rolex Authenticity (first time buying one)

Hi All,

I am looking to pickup this Rolex (possibly) but the auction house is a local one and does not authenticate them. It can be had for a good price but I obviously am new to Rolex... especially a used one. Do you have any thoughts on if this is real or not? I plan to go look at it in person but would love the experts help. I really appreciate your time and advice.

Anthony

Welcome to the a Forum A.

I understand that you are new to Rolex but even a cursory google of Rolex DayDates would give you your answer.

Pass on that one.

In the nicest way possible...

If you can't tell the difference and don't know anything about Rolex's, why would you risk your $ buying a Rolex from an auction house?

If you really want one, then go to an AD or a reputable dealer...

Or is it the low price that causes people to risk their own money? Seems foolish...

You did the right thing checking here first. That’s not even close. Next time try google images first to see if you can find something similar. Forum just saved you a wasted trip. You’re welcome.

As someone new to Rolex and TRF, you should be aware that there are a great many fake Rolexes out there. Some (not this example) are difficult to identify as fakes, even for experts. I would be very wary of buying from auction house unless you are comfortable losing your money.

Buy new from an authorized dealer. Anything else is a risk.
