Rolex to AP?

Hi all,

Newbie here. I'm going to ask the same question on the Rolex forum and I appreciate you guys here are AP fans but I'd like some advice on whether I should make the move from Rolex to AP. More specifically, a steel royal oak blue dial.

For those that have made the move, is AP significantly a step up from Rolex please?

Thanks

They are different and serve different purposes IMO. For me I much prefer my APs, but when I want something I don't care whether it gets banged up or knocked around I wear a Rolex (or a ROO) as opposed to aq RO. It should be viewed as an addition and not an either or proposition.

I would also suggest expanding your horizons on AP. If all you are looking for is the same thing everyone else is looking for you will be disappointed. Try one on, look at other dial colors and sizes. There is so much more to AP than RO blue dial (and I say this as someone with two APs with blue dials).

As someone who has been fortunate to own both brands, I would support this move entirely. That is not a knock on rolex at all, but yes you will be entering a different echelon of watchmaking in my opinion. You will want to exercise some extra wrist awareness with a royal oak on, but I think you will love it, especially in the blue dial. Don't overthink it, just go for it!

If this is going to be you only watch i wouldn't, as much as I love my AP's I certainly wouldn't consider them daily wearer's!
