New Inventory at AD
My AD tells me they never know what new pieces are coming in or when, they just get what Rolex sends them. As a manager of a retail business myself I wonder, how can this be? How can you manage inventory and take care of your customer base if the manufacturer just sends you what they want you to have and you have no say at all. Makes no sense to me.

Simple, when they receive the inventory they add it to their system.
It's like people working at Apple, when the new iPhone comes out the stores aren't told prior that they will be receiving X amount of phones, they receive them add them to inventory and than allocate them based on their customers. Most of the time it's first come first serve but there definitely have been occasions where a few special models (512GB, etc) have been held for "VIP" customers, just like your GMT/Hulk/Daytona etc. I'm sure this is a very similar method for Rolex. Head office is probably the only one who really knows whats going where, good luck finding out. |

You would think some models would sell better than others in different areas. The dealer should be able to adjust his model mix to add or subtract items that don't sell well in his geographic area. The manufacturers I represent have many models that don't sell well for me, so I don't keep them in stock. Other models sell well so that's what I keep in stock. I don't want to tie up capitol in inventory that just sits and gets dusty.
Oh well...…..as they say "it is what it is". |
