Madrid Ad....discussion about SD43 for those looking for one.
A simple story.....Took a walk through of El Cortes Ingles yesterday while I was in Madrid. They did have a DeepSea Black (had one 4 years ago) and all gold Sub which were nice to see.
Like most AD’s, I get no love (dressed very low key and causal.) This one has heavy foot traffic because of its location. Getting no attention, as I was leaving, I asked the AD if he had any SD43 available, he quickly said “No.”. From under my long sleeved shirt (I always keep it covered in Spain) I then showed him my SD43 stating I was looking for one for my son (which eventually I am for a graduation present.). His eyes perked up and demeanor was much more engaging. Seemed like he took me way more serious. He stated that they get about 2 every three months, or so. They come in more than Sub-dates (I thought that was interesting.) They are either allocated or sold within a day of hitting the store, which I believe. All sold locally. He actually thanked me for understanding. Nothing else to do but cruise on and have a cerveza..... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

So what you're saying is, that it's hard to get a watch in Madrid like has been already reported like everywhere else in the world, got it.
For a second I thought there was news, thanks though, they have beer, that's the takeaway here. Me personally would've went for the wine. |

At least there are some ways to get these ‘tighter’ ADs to open up for conversation!!! Sheesh.
And I understand the apprehension these days. Believe me. I’ve seen it first hand in a couple of boutiques. I stop in many an AD and boutique when we are traveling - and always have my watch under my shirtsleeve. I’ve experienced all of the AD ‘emotions’ lol. Always thought it was interesting how the conversation changed if/when they caught a glimpse of what watch I was wearing. Have had some pretty interesting comments and conversations over the last few years - especially when they’ve noticed a 116500 and a 5711. It’s sad to me that many ADs are so stand-offish these days. Glad you had a decent experience overall. It’s been a while since we’ve been to Spain - is Wempe still there? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

So you asked if he had a SD43....but then you said "I was looking for one for my son (which eventually I am for a graduation present.)", so this sounds like you weren't ready to buy...
I think the SA had you pegged as a window shopper correctly.. |

Now for nice drinks check out Museo Chicote on Gran Via, it's a must on my visits. I love Madrid and this is a cocktail museum, best cocktails I've had in europe, they have beer too.. |

All good. It’s a frustrating situation for both buyers and ADs. Still digging your JC DSSD. Always so close to pull the trigger and then chicken out last minute. Yesterday, had two ADs offer it to me and was about to wire when again I thought against it. Maybe someday... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro |

I have a BLRO too and honestly, I like the D-Blue more, the BLRO is just more exciting because of it's popularity, very beautiful in it's own right, but the D-Blue is just on another level for me. I do believe having a decent wrist matters. I will never sell this one. Get some paella while there and don't underestimate those little places that sell "tapas"(appetizers), with wine or beer it's the best, and economical for on the go quick bites. |

No...they did not have me pegged. They pegged me as a non-Rolex wearer/buyer to start. I could have been in the market for a Gold Sub in the window....after all. My point was that having SS model starts conversations in reality, or gives a level of credibility to have an honest conversation internationality, on a model that you may want. I just never had a AD not at least say “Hello.” Some folks on the forum were asking “how long for a SD43”......well this dealer gets 8 per year. Yes, Wempe is still there (as of 6 months ago when the last time I was in that area.). Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

They are not hard to get with the right approach.... that is the point. I like Spanish wine.....a SD43 pairs better with beer. Sorry, dude. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

And bueno estar en Madrid.
Nice insight story about the SD43. If they are receiving 2 every 3 months that makes the SD43 an easy to get model. Quote:

Wempe Madrid receive 1 SS Pepsi a month. That's what they told me. Impossible to get if you don't spend the right amount of cash.

Ohh so the SD43 comes in less quantities than the Pepsi, I see. Anyways, I don’t deal with ADs ever for that very same reason you mention above “having to spend the right amount of money before sourcing the right watch” I call it bribe I call it blackmail I just can’t stand it. That’s why I only by from Rolex Boutique where there’s nothing but Rolex watches in there to be offered to me. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
