2 year wait for Platinum Daytona?

After nearly 50 years of acquiring Rolex watches of all styles in SS, SS/YG, YG and WG, I decided to inquire about availability of the Platinum Daytona. (Microsoft doubling In one year!!!)
I was just informed that there is an enormous backorder, possibly 2 years.
What’s crazy is that 5 years ago, my buddy bought one for 25%off...close to 50k shipped no tax.
Could they be that hard to find at this price point?

Saw one at Gandelmans in Aruba a few weeks ago. Might be worth a call?

Shouldn’t be hard to find with a very short wait. I’d advise simply finding a new AD, this one sounds like they don’t want your business or is playing games to ovoid a discount

Haha, no. Definitely not two years. Maybe two months at best. The last one my AD ordered took a few weeks.

Your AD though , 2 years is a long time to wait.
Like it has been said, just go to another AD.

Saw one at an AD in St Thomas about a month ago...they are out there and you will not have to wait 2 years!

Complete and utter nonsense although not quite two a penny they are readily available from many ADs

I saw 3 on the east coast (DC area) around October.

It shouldn’t be difficult to find if you look around.

Agreed

I believe that some AD's are using the current climate of fear to exploit customers. If they do not have it in stock, it will take "years to get one" if ever.

They have gone up in price from low $50s to low to mid $60s on the grey market and I still think that's high. They are still easily found. I've been debating getting one for awhile I just don't think the small size would work for me.

As I’m right now visiting where I do business, at a shop that has gotten me the most desired models in the catalogue, I’m usually given straight up info. Possibly not in their allocation.
Plus, I like every purchase to be fresh out of the casket and untouched by human hands until mine.
I’ll pay a visit to another AD i know in a major market that might have the allocation and availability.

I get what you mean, but most ADs I know take the watches out of their caskets every-time a regular customer is interested and put them back in the casket if the customer isn’t buying it.

So, even if in its casket, it doesn’t mean it’s untouched unfortunately.

Or allocation realities we don’t see

With the new allocation system, maybe my small town AD doesn’t even get a chance to special order as the bigger AD’s have first dibs.
I asked about green face DD and they know it’s not coming.

In Southeast Asia it’s impossible to get, they’re all reserved and long lists. If they’re ever put in display they’re gone in 2 hours...

But for some reason in the US I’ve seen several at ADs and in the Caribbean as well.

Cheers!

Perhaps they’re saying it to ovoid a discount. I know some ADs still discount PM while others do not. Perhaps with your relationship they’re looking to ovoid an ask for a discount by making it seem hard to find. Not sure. Just trying to think why the would say such a thing

Maybe the SA wasn't listening and just ignored the bit about platinum, assuming you wanted SS?
