For those who think there is no list for Daytona...

Firstly
Last Dec, I got my Daytona C. When it was released during Baselworld 2016, I didn't care much to put an order. Then after sometime in 2017, I stopped by the AD and asked are you taking list for Daytona C. He said they are but its long wait and we have huge line of preferred customers already in line. I said, if there's a list can you put me on one and he said he can enter my name in the system for official place and he did one. I forgot about it and moved onto other watches until last Dec he called me and said we have one, do you want to own Daytona C ? I said yes and he placed the order for me and I picked it up next day.

Now, all this looks familiar right? But when I check the receipt, there's this order date which shows...

That’s a fairy tale come true! Now I wish I casually placed an order 2 years ago.

I did the same thing as you. I walked in in 2017 and was told there was a list (this was at an AD where I have purchase history). So I thought maybe let a few years pass and then buy it. Should have put my name on the list then. Now, it is even harder to get one. Oh well.

Congrats

Of course there's a list, I put my name in with an AD as soon as the watch was shown at Basel and received it just under a year later. However, at that time they "allowed" me to pay in full up front.

Your AD had you on their list. Whether other ADs follow the same procedure is the question.

That's not the question. Many of them believe there's no list anywhere. If there's no list there will never an older date on the 'receipt' of the watch. Receipt of the watch is important document and not any AD can mess around easily for customers.

Actually I don't see the wait as long. I didn't even ask AD much or stalk him day in day out. If I had done that maybe I would have got the watch in half the time. There are so many watches out there.. time just flies while you are buying something else and Daytona's time will come. It's still a luxury watch and your life will not stop for 1 more watch IMO.

Congrats, really nice to get that sort of call. Got a similar one for a SkyDweller a month ago. Really nice feeling and AD seemed genuinely pleased.

Did you have a prior purchase history?

Did you buy anything @ this AD from the time they put you on the "list" to the time they called you to pick it up?

In other words, did you walk in off the street in 2017 completely unknown to this AD, ask them to put you on the Daytona list, which they subsequently obliged...then you disappear for a couple of years, after this span of time, they call you out of the blue that your next on the list...come and get your White Dial Ceramic Daytona?

Is that how it went down?

1 Breitling in between when they had no Rolex in stock.

Ok...appreciate the clarification.

My initial impression was that you stumbled into this AD as an unknown visitor, ordered up a Daytona-C White like an egg samich @ Denny's...then ghosted them for a couple of years and they popped up 2yrs later offering you the opportunity to buy the most desirable watch on the market @ retail...

That would have been truly remarkable...

But still you did much better than most. Congrats.

I was only waiting for White Daytona and my AD confirmed they get very few of those for each year there are lot of big $$ customers waiting for it. I mean, for 2.5 years, I think they could have got around 30-40 white dials and to grab a position in one of that number is remarkable enough.

Congratulations my friend
i am amazed...what a great story...such an honest AD who kept his promise and
Sold an important Rolex to a walk-in customer 3 years later no less
..refusing to sell at $10k premium.
...my faith to the Rolex ADs has been restored.
