In a collection or one and only? Collection DD, one and only Sub.

If you have steel sports Rolex watches as well the DD adds great variety.

Day Date.

Although I doubt my collection would stay at one!

For one and only sub, but personally I would go five digit.

The presence and feel of sub would be the “one” if I had to only choose one.

Oh and blue dial lol

Blue, the sunburst dial is spectacular. Black is cool but it’s the same black as all other Rolex sport watches. But I do still like the black. I’m about 60/40 in favour of blue

Edit: the real question should be what dial DD40 haha

I just purchased a YG Submariner with the Blue Sunburst dial, 116618LB. Great watch and one that fits a lot of occasions. I also own two Rolex DD II's, one in platinum and the other in YG. I love the classic looks of the DD and that is where I was before the Submariner. The only knock on the DD is the lack of adjustment with the bracelet as the only way to do it is to add or remove links. With the Submariner the Glide lock clasp takes care of that. I have owned the black dial Submariner, 116618LN, and it was fine but the blue is very special. I just changes the dial on my YG DD to champagne as the black dial was too limited for me. If it will be a one and only PM and the blue does not do it for you I would look at some other dials on the DD. Some pictures of my watches.

Are those 36? Yeah I have owned a few ss subs but was thinkng of moving from my current 118238 to lb/ln I think the proper move is just just save and buy one in a few months to add. How’s the weight on the sub compared to dd

If I were picking a one and only watch, it wouldn’t be yellow gold, it’d be white gold if going PM. Of your choices though...Sub for a one and only.

If you are going for fun, my vote is for the YG Sub. Plus, you get the on-the-fly adjustability of the Glidelock clasp.

I wanted a PM piece and narrowed it down to a DD and Sub black. I don't remember what dial DD I was looking at, but it was RG. I went with the Sub for the glidelink and it was several thousand $ less. Glad I did!

Love the DD, but after all the issues I've had trying to get a decent fit with mine, there is no way I'd pick it over a modern sub with glide lock.

However, I just have to say this. There would be no way I would pick black over blue, either.
